All:
Does anyone in this group know how to get rid of scuff marks off a black bezel on a Samsung TV? I
noticed them when I took the tape off the bezel and tried to remove them with simple rubbing. Nothing
worked.
I have read about Miguiar's PlastiX, Novus #2 and #3 polishes, Goof Off, and Goo Gone.
Any good ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Was the tape damaged before you took it off? If not, the scuffs were there at
the factory and are most likely scratches into the plastic. In that case the
gentlest of the Novus polishes is probably your best bet. It will be very
difficult to restore a perfectly smooth surface.

If the tape was damaged, you have to determine if the scuffs are residue from
the tape or scratches in the plastic. If the former, I would use isopropyl
rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth before trying anything stronger. Note:
Ethyl alcohol may damage the plastic. Use Isopropyl.

DO NOT use goof off or goo gone on a plastic surface. They can easily melt the
plastic.

Always try the gentlest possible solution first. I don't know PlastiX and so
can't comment on it.

The bezels are usually made from a polystyrene....there seems to be a
few ways posted on how to clean up styrenic compounds...here is one of
them (the second is basically the same as the first). You can search
for a few others...

Patience and a light hand is the key for doing this type of fixing.

You may also be able to use one of those headlight lens polishing
kits, as the lenses are also made from styrene.

Here are a couple links discussing something similar (you say "scuff" marks,
while these articles are more about fine scratches). I was going to
recommend WD-40 (no, you didn't misread that. WD-40 is an amazing product),
but one of the precautions from their web site is :
It is safe for most surfaces -- the two exceptions are polycarbonate and
clear polystyrene plastics. I could be wrong, but I believe the piano black
finish on tv bezels is polystyrene.

Good luck.

Try Pledge? It will temporarily cover scratches on a cd/dvd. You'll have
to reapply occasionally.
