How I met your Father:
Colby and I met through a mutual friend of mine from college - credit: Elice Senf! Elice and I had reconnected early summer of 2015. We were catching each other up on what we'd been up to and she mentioned working with hunting banquets and gun companies and invited me to come help at an event in west Texas for a friend of hers that she would send business to [that business being Texas Triggers]. By the end of our conversation Elice asked me if I was single and, lucky for me, I was. However, I wasn't really actively "looking" for anyone and she sent me a photo of this AMAZINGLY HANDSOME man and asked "What do you think about him?" Of course I thought he was so good looking so i replied with "HOT" haha! But, I was curious to know what she was up to! She told me his name is Colby and that we would totally hit it off and asked me if she could give him my number. With zero apprehension - I told her to go for it! He texted me soon after asking if it would be ok to call me that night to chat. I immediately replied back with something witty of course, and told him to call me....well he did. We spoke for over 3 hours, instantly connected and realized how [creepishly] compatible we were!! We have not gone a day without talking since. And because Colby was living in Midland at the time and I was in Austin, he came in town 2 days later to take me on our first date! When I opened the door to greet him, he had a bouquet of hand-picked flowers from his ranch in a blue vase - I still have to this day! It was the sweetest gesture and we knew the moment we saw each other that this was IT!!!
Over the next 10 months our relationship grew stronger and stronger and we fell head over heels for each other soon after we met. We both agree that it's something neither of us have ever felt, nor could it be more real. Colby met Brinley about 3 months after we started dating and they instantly fell in love, too! After I saw how much they connected, I knew even more how this man was for me, and for Brin.
Over time, as we got more and more serious, we started telling each other how we couldn't wait to marry each other! We knew [and know] that we do not want to do life without one another. On April 22, 2016 Colby and I drove out to his family Ranch. I was having a pretty awful week and wasn't really wanting to do anything but just stay home. Well, he was ADAMANT about us going - which was weird because he's pretty go with the flow! Well, most of the time - HA! So I said lets go and we hit the road.
As soon as we got to the ranch I changed in to my "ranch gear" - like I normally do - and Colby said - "Let's go for a drive and head over to our spot." Had I known what was to come, I probably would have stayed in my cute outfit I wore down there, but I was just being in the moment. We drove to "our" spot on the ranch which he and I both love, it sits up on a hill and we have dreams of building a home for us in this spot one day. We back up and sit on the top of his truck to watch the sunset...He and I were talking about how much we are in love each other and how happy we are together. We are the PERFECT MATCH. He asked if I was ready to do forever with him and with no hesitiation I told him "YES." After that, he stood up in front of me, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!! I, of course, immediately started crying and screamed YES and hugged him and kissed him!!
It was the perfect proposal. Our favorite spot, being on the ranch, being in the moment, simple and beautiful. It was the best day of our lives and that's why we just cannot wait to get married and call each other husband and wife this fall! We cannot wait for FOREVER together! To infinity and beyond!!!!
Editor: many have speculated weather Colby is gay. Hey he snores like a jackhammer. I don't know any girl who hears a man snoring and says Gotta get me some of that!
