Another strong season from Australia, much
stronger than the US' have been in ages, if
ever. However I thought S04 was even better,
mainly due to a stronger cast. Still, this was
pretty solid, and mostly for the same reasons.
Anyway what is the analysis why Shane won?
Shane didn't win any challenges. She found an
idol, and played it correctly in the sense
votes were coming her way, but more votes were
coming another way so she could have saved it
just as well.
Sharn, 41, won *four* challenges. She found an
idol, but didn't play it correctly. She found
another one, and played it correctly.
Both were working bees around camp.
And it was a close call: 5-4 Shane
All the "gamers", except for Brian (the sour
looser), and Mat (why?), voted for Sharn.
The more relaxed players, which isn't
necessarily a bad quality, and, again, Brian
and Mat, voted for Shane.
In particular, all the young ladies voted for
Shane. Why? I remember Monika looking at Sharn
with such admiration, almost glowing with pride
just for standing next to her. Still, she voted
for Shane! What's going on?
During FTC Shane was very relaxed, no big
gestures, no preassuring the jury, no pleading
or excessive body language. Sharn on the other
hand was constantly on the defensive, getting
into petty arguments who said what/when etc.
She didn't look or sound the winner. But how
did that happen? She played a much more
impressive game than Shane!
So perhaps the explanation is plain nervousness
(a bad day), while Shane went into FTC
completely relaxed, with no one, including
herself, expecting her to win. However the
nervousness from Sharn is all the more pusling
as she is a trained lawyer, and a very
successful one at that!
If it wasn't the FTC, maybe it was something we
didn't see on TV? Maybe Sharn was all busy
doing stuff, not really speaking to the young
ladies? But again, this makes little sense
because I thought Shane the cold person who
never bothered with the young ladies the least!
5-4! ???
