Spock's eyebrow was creeping closer to his hairline. "Indeed," replied
Spock. The Stargate crew glanced knowingly at each other, as if they
heard this response before. Jack stepped forward toward Spock, and held
out his hand. Spock merely looked reprovingly at the General.
Kirk shot a wry smile at McCoy, who nodded the okay after analyzing his
readings. "They're safe, Jim, at least biologically."
"But are we safe from you?" wondered Daniel aloud. Spock's face seemed
to take this as a slight, but he spoke without emotion. "Starfleet
personnel must undergo the most rigorous physical, emotional and
psychological examinations to be prepared for the onset of any
theoretical situation which might occur during the duration of any
specified or unspecified..."
"Friend of yours, Sam?" interrupted Jack. Sam was not amused.
Jack took a step closer to Kirk, realizing from his attitude that he
was in charge. Holding out his hand, he said, "General Jack O'Neil,
Stargate One team."
After a second's pause, Kirk gripped Jack's hand and returned the
handshake. "Captain James T. Kirk, of the U.S.S. Enterprise."
Sam looked startled at the familiar name of the ship, but spoke her
name. McCoy and Spock responded in kind, Spock still ignoring Jack's
proffered hand. Jack looked at his hand as if he'd forgotten to wash
before dinner, and made a face. Daniel added his name after them, and
asked Spock, "You said, 'Starfleet'? U.S.S., that's a ship, right?"
Spock gave a slight nod in the affirmative.
"Stargate, Starfleet; Starfleet, Stargate," joked Jack introducingly,
but suddenly cut his smile short and looked business-like again.
"Well, it seems we have a situation, here, people," offered Daniel.
"You think?" responded Sam and Jack simultaneously.
McCoy had a slight grin on his face at their reactions.
"Wanna explain how you came through that thing, and where you came
from?" he drawled.
"That thing?" Jack looked surprised, glancing at the Guardian. "Well..."
he looked to Sam. "I don't think we're in Kansas, sir," she said.
Again Spock said, "Indeed." Sam was surprised he understood the
reference. Jack cleared his throat and addressed Kirk.
"Look, we're on a scientific mission of exploration..."
"As are we, General," said Kirk.
"Call me Jack."
Kirk smiled. "Call me Jim."
Then the Guardian spoke...

Regarding references to other shows, I believe Brad Wright is the "Wizard of
Oz" and "The Simpsons" fan. RDA had said many years ago that he doesn't
watch sci-fi but maybe later on he did check out the competition. I wouldn't
go as far as call him a Star Trek fan though, so any ST references are
probably the writers'. I remember Brad Wright saying in an interview that
it's interesting how many ad-libs people think RDA has made, when they are
actually scripted. And the *real* ad-libs are viewed as scripted. Just
shows you what we know. <g>

I planned to write the story around T'ealc's being missing and the SG1
team needing the help of the ST team finding him, but unfortunately life
gets busy and I've not had a chance. Maybe now that school has started
again THANK GOD! I'll have a little bit of free time and I can work on

RDA is the simpsons fan. He has said it is his favorite show.
It's my understanding that most of his ad libs are very subtle
and blend in quite well.

Sorry, Brad didn't say! The only one I know of is the preposition one, in
"Abyss" (?), when Jack is complaining about Ba'al ending a sentence with a
preposition. Mind you, could be a different episode and a different Goa'uld,
for all I know, LOL. But RDA is well known for being a stickler when it
comes to proper grammar, so maybe there are other grammar ones in other
episodes.
