Well after 10+ years of chatting about Stargate, it's time to pull up the
stakes and time to let it go. So I will be removing the newsgroups from my
reader. Will miss most of you especially old timers like Eva who used to
download eps from me.

Proper sequels or those idiotic ones from before that were going to ignore
the TV shows. :-\

Technically, a proper sequel WOULD ignore the TV show, since the TV
shows actually completely ignored the original movie. ;)

The TV show did make some contradictory changes, but it didn't completely
ignore the original movie.

Most of the last SG1 movies were about shooting replicators and other
aliens for most of the movie with a little plot and acting thrown.

Ping-ping-ping ... wow, what a deflection to a different topic. Almost
worthy of a pinball machine. ;-)

We were talking about the original Stargate movie starring Kurt Russell
and James Spader. The people who created that were talking of doing sequel
movies that ignored the Stargate SG-1 TV show ... no doubt as sour grapes
since they sold the TV rights and now regret it after four TV series and
multiple TV-movies, as well as the various series of books.

According to Variety, from long ago (say 6 or so months?) the movie
deal died in the concept phase when most of the major funders bailed
when they learned that it wouldn't follow the SG1 canon but would try
to run its own timeline. I couldn't imagine trying to watch a movie
that started "the next day" (or even decade) without thinking of SG1.
And the outifts who would be throwing money probably felt the same

Unfortunately, this did little to stop the carnage that was to come to
our country and our world. The Powers That Be needed a "Punch and

to the masses. Stargate was that instrument.

Even ignoring the fact you're a looney tune, Stargate ahs nor "died out" -
they're still releasing novels. As usual, the early demise of Stargate
Universe was due to the morons in charge changing the established
"formula", added to that are the low financial times we're currently
living in and the fact that most of Holywired are talentless hacks who
would rather butcher old ideas and claim them as their own.

Dear Retard

A. Ra is not a "dirtball". In fact he seems to be quite clean and
fashionable. He bathed at least once during the course of the movie.
O'Niel, on the other hand, was tossed in an open sewer *after* he
assaulted Ra in his own home.

B. As an african-american, I know all there is to know about
aggression and oppression. Those Abbydos people seem to be in
surprisingly good health and spirits despite the fact that they were
on that world for over 8000 years. African slaves were showing signs
of physiological deteriation within their individual lifetimes....and
shared medical problems as a group over the span of generations. Had
it not been for the Civil War, African people in America would
probably had been extinct by now. This country was founded on slavery,
and yet they would begrudge a feudal colony its autonomy.....on what
basis??

Why don't you just admit that this movie is politically motivated and
leave it at that? There were other flicks guilty of the same thing,
this is just one of them.

Dear racist fool,

The fact that one takes a bath does not exclude one from being a
dirtball -- it is a state of mind and action, for which Ra qualified in
Spades!

If you know all about repression and oppression, then you, if you have
even moderate intelligence, should recognize Ra as an oppressor.

BTW -- Blacks are not the only people impressed into slavery. Ever hear
of the Barbary pirates? They impressed Europeans into slavery, which was
the cause of the Barbary Wars ("to the shores of tripoli" in the Marine
Corps hymn.) The Persians, Egyptians, Phoenecians, Carthaginians (North
Africa), Greeks, Romans, Chinese and Japanese all practiced slavery and
were equal opportunity oppressors of conquered lands.

( * Supermann sadly shakes his head pityingly at the poor little
ginger dwarf with the funny name. Apparently Jerry Lewis, unable to
host his MS telephon this year, decided to duct-tape one of his
special kids to a keyboard in the hopes that he won't be missed as he
heads out the back door. Unfortunately, the little tardling tripped on
the cable and fell on the send button....*)

What you have failed to understand, Mr. Fairgame, is that outside
the simple fact that not only did Ra had every legal claim to his own
sense of national souvreignty, not only did he had the legal and moral
right to defend that claim, not only didn't he even seem to have the
choice whether or not to even defend himself...but he even had the
right to employ whatever means at hand to secure his own territory. I
find it odd that a species who could barely chuck a pair of shoes into
earth orbit, would...after commodering other people's
technology...sneak up on other poeple's planets with atom bombs stuff
in steel boxes, claiming to be rightious and benign explorers;
dictating how others should live...and die, apparently.

I give you this to chew on....The department of the Air Force, after
being solicited by Devlin and Emmerich to provided production
assistence, had to gracefully decline the request, citing their
objections to the use of a nuclear weapons in the movie..."objections"
being the circumstances in how it was used. I could guess at
specifics, but I don't see how anyone could miss that Ra's primary
aged child servants were caught in the blast.

*yawn!* OK, I'm back. "might makes right", eh? O'Niel's might came in
the form of an atomic weapon, smuggled in a box.

I don't think Ra did anything I wouldn't do in the circumstances he
was in. I found it amazing that the film left in so many clues to Ra's
mitigating actions. "Birth of a Nation" didn't do that....they
miligned the character of black people at every opportunity to justify
their racist passions. In Stargate, they didn't care enough to do even
that....How Ra would percieve this hostle incursion is of no concern,
so why stack the deck by making him the instigator? They let O'Niel
play the instigator...the aggressor.

Ra didn't even get the chance to show he was the "bad guy", O'Niel
attacked him first, when he should have tried to communicate w/ him.
The math was all there to tell Ra to retaliate against O'Niel's
"Amerikkka", since they saw it fit to send a crazy, suicidal misfit of
an air force officer on a first contact mission.

But the real point was your mindless accusation that Ra attacked the
United States. Ra did not attack the United States, and all of you
people who don't like to agree with me *know* this. Why did you say
that? Do you really believe that yourself? Would you *prefer* to
believe that? I can't come here and dick around with you people if
you're just going to make shit up. This is an educational process. You
have been manipulated by your media-of-choice, and were made obliged
to turn your back on an intergalactic lynching. Star Trek never did
this...the bad guys showed they were bad guys before the first punch
was thrown. Compare that to Col. O'Niel's "Go an' Get 'Em" attitude.
He got 'em all right....3/4 of all casualties depicted in Stargate
were underaged.

Most people who saw Stargate could claim ignorance, because admittedly
it's hard to pick up on all the clues, but once it's all explained,
there has to be something *fundamentally* wrong with people who
CHOOSES not to consider the possibilty that maybe they have been
cinematically coersed into betting for the wrong man. Think about it.
This government has an interest in cultivating pliant, ignorant
obsequence.
