Daniel was dying so Oma Desala gave him the option of ascension which he
took, so he's now floating around as a bright light/breeze off camera.
According to Michael Shanks the writers were worried there would be an
outcry if they killed Daniel outright, as there was with Martouf, so we got
the non-death-he's-not-dead-really and the Daniel-as-a-breeze bit in
Revelations. This also gives the audience the impression that Daniel will be
around. What's actually happening is Brad Wright said Daniel/MS would be
back and that his "ride with SG-1 isn't over", his "role" would just be
different. According to Michael Shanks, while Brad Wright was saying this to
fans in September at GateCon and to magazines, no one had approached him
about returning (as of February). Suddenly, after months of fans
complaining, in March a season 6 episode, Abyss, popped up, an episode
written by Brad Wright that has Daniel in it. There are spoilers for 10
episodes and the episodes are mapped out up to number 18 (according to Joe
Mallozzi). Daniel is in one of them, Abyss.

Erm...no. He was fed up not having anything to do and felt the character was
becoming "an anchor" weighing down the team and the writers. He felt Daniel
had nothing to do/was given nothing to do in a show that was becoming
increasingly militaristic and focused on Earth-bound X Files-type conspiracy
storylines. His interviews on the matter are here:

Having seen Sci Fi's promotional posters for SG-1 that they're giving away
free in comics shops, he may well be breathing a sigh of relief. :-) Not
that Sci Fi is trying to grab the teen male demographic or anything...

If the writers actually write something for him to consider he might, if
he's still available. He's signed up for the one script they've managed to
produce so far. I suspect it'll be like it was with JR Bourne, were they
insist the character isn't dead then say they tried to get him back but,
oops, the actor was too busy. He's said he's willing to come back if the
script appeals so we'll see.

But it's just a pattern, considering the death tally on Farscape and X-Files
too! <G>
Ooops. Have you just let slip more spoilers? ;-) I stopped watching X Files
about five seasons ago. Who have they bumped off?

I know they killed Krycek. Is Skinner still around? I used to love that
show. I still have an ash-can edition of the first comic.

In the last Farscape, Crais blew himself up in Talyn (it was a joint decision),
destroying a peackeeper battle cruiser. The season finale looks like we'll be
losing some cast members too.
In the last episode of X-Files, they killed hte Lone Gunmen. ALL 3 of them.
Yikes!
ANd Chris Carter killed off Scully's little dog a few years ago and I've never
forgiven him <G>. The dog! Sheesh, the poor little dog!
Eeep!

LOL! That was my reaction. :-)
More details:
Free Comic Day
We've made some new friends lately here at Continuity and one bunch we are
very happy to know are from the Sci Fi Channel. A couple of the guys from
Sci Fi have been here to speak to Neal about art work for their 2 best shows
Stargate Sg-1 and Farscape. What's even better news for the Neal Adams fans
is that the art work done is going to be printed for Free Comic Book Day.
From the drawings Neal did, a color finished poster was completed of the two
casts side by side entitled "The Far-Gate Experience". 250,000 postcards of
Neal's original design will be distributed in comic book stores throughout
the country and Canada on free comic book day.
In addition, the Sci Fi channel is going to give away the original color art
as well as 15 limited edition posters during Super hero Saturday. For a
chance to win, just go to SCFI.COM/freecomics starting Saturday April 27th -
May 11th.

<snip>
It was very thoughtful of you to use spoiler warning and space;
unfortunately, the spoiler space was too short and I have just found out
something about Farscape that I really didn't want to know. :-(
Please, use at least 20 lines for spoiler space, especially if there is no
spoiler warning in the header. Thank you.

Way to go, executive material.
>WHAT THEY KILLED THE LONEGUNMEN??? FOR REAL?!
Yeah. Seems so from what they showed on the screen. Bummer.

(as

The text starts on line 11 on my display, I have a 19" monitor and use
800x600 resolution. It's because people use different monitors, newsreaders
etc that more spoiler space is always better than less.
And can I just add to that - it's better to type in something even if
it's gobblydegook as some newsreaders ignore the space and just move up
the first letter. I know this as I sometimes check out newsgroups in
Google, and that's one of the worst offenders for that.
