Caught some repeats(I think) of DS9 yesterday and I think I must have
somehow missed a whole bunch of episodes the first time around.

How/why is Kira pregnant by O'Brien and why is she living with him and
Kaeko and why isn't Kaeko upset about it ?????

What happens with this in the end ?

In short, Nana was having a baby and the writers needed to think fast.
So, first Kieko(sp?) got pregnant and then a shuttle accident occured and
Bashir needed to move the baby to Kira. A little contrived, but that's
how they explained it.

Kira has the O'Briens' baby, there's a little bit of drama and some funny
scenes, and now they have two children :)

Thanks for that Brian, don't quite know how I missed all that as I
watch the stuff every day and must have seen each one dozens of times
(or so I thought !)

I was not sure how to spell Kieko, thanks for the correction.

Keiko would have been a bit miffed if the ole' hormonal tug the two
experienced in "looking for par'mach" had actually been followed up.
Thinking about it, Kira's been attracted to O'Brien, snogged Bashir and is
now going out with Odo. Mirror Kira has had flings with Mirror Sisko and
Garak...... She's insatiable!
.............but at least she never ever fancied Worf;)

Don't forget one of the funniest moments in the whole series.

When Dukat the Freedom Fighter comes to the station and finds a pregnant Kira,
he remarks that Shakarr's a lucky man. Kira casually replies that Shakarr isn't
the father. Dukat asks who is, and the Major replies (quite casually) "Cheif
O'Brien"

The expression on Dukat's face should win an award.

Kira became the surrogate mother for the O'Brien child after Keiko suffered
a shuttlecraft accident while pregnant. This was a reasonably clever ploy
by the writers to keep Kira in the show during Nana Visitor's pregnancy
while not giving her a child to raise afterward.

Nerys, Keiko and Bashir were in a shuttle coming back from some excursion
or conference, and of course there was some sort of accident, Keiko got
hurt and the injury threatened the baby's health, so Bashir had to
transplant the fetus into Nerys. She ended up carrying the child to term;
there was no affair between Nerys and O'Brien.

There almost was...during one of the interim episodes(I forget which) while
Kira was staying with the O'Brien's. Miles and Nerys discovered a mutual
attraction for each other...

It might have been intresting if they went back and explore that issue
again. If Rosalyn Chao really didn't want to be on the show. They could
have arranged an affair between Miles and Nerys that lead to Keiko leaving
him.

The O'Brien marriage is unique in all of the Trek series - both spouses are
alive and happy with each other, and they are raising children together.
I don't want to see it change, particularly not in that way.
