This came in the mail. I thought you folks would like to know.

DS9 ACTOR THROWS COSTLY PUNCH
According to unpublished reports, actor Avery Brooks accidentally broke
Marc Alaimo's nose yesterday during a stunt punch gone wrong. Since
Alaimo, who plays Dukat, is a vital character in the series finale of
Deep Space Nine, shooting has been extended a week to allow him to
recover. The show will now wrap April 27.

9904.18 - DS9 Finale Shoot Delayed...
TrekWeb.COM has learned that production has been extended for a few
days on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine because of injuries to Marc Alaimo during
a stunt fight scene. Avery Brooks threw a punch a little too deep and Marc's
timing was off; Marc was hit in the nose by Avery. Marc's appearance is
vital to the scenes in question, so those scenes will be filmed after he's
had a few days to recover from his injuries. The final day of shooting now
looks like April 27th, 1999.

9904.19 - DS Final Shoot Not Delayed...
Warp Eleven has just received an update from Holly Kim Wilson, the
charity coordinator of Marc Alaimo's fanclub regarding the delayed shooting
of DS9's finale as a result of an Marc's nose injury during shooting [see
below].

Holly Kim Wilson:
Yes, Avery did ACCIDENTLY (Marc wants everyone to know that) clock Marc in
the nose during a staged fight. Avery felt terrible about it. Marc said he
was upset. They did have to take Marc to the ER, but Marc is not in any real
pain nor did he think anything was broken.

They are NOT delaying filming for him to recover. They resume tomorrow and
Marc is due back on the set Wednesday, the 21st, as scheduled.

Thanks to Holly Kim Wilson.

Andy Robinson has said that there was a lot of blood when Avery hit
Marc!

The spoiler news is that Marc was in full CARDASSIAN make-up when it
happened and went to the ER still in full make-up!

Thanks go out again to Holly Kim Wilson.

I dunno if it was broken or not, but man, that must hurt. I never had my
nose broken, but saw a guy pitching Softball take a comebacker right in the
nose, and that was nasty.

Yeah, staged fights can be nasty if the timing is off, and one must commend
Marc for not using a stunt person and being a trooper. I am sure it was an
accident, and must congratulate the actors for being so into the scene....

Was the original fight scene scrubbed or are they going to keep it and add to
it after Marc recovers?

Why bother, if they now have a shot of a REAL punch why can't they just use that?
They will of course have to delete all the non-cardassians swearing :) and
re-color red blood with whatever color blood cardassians have. If they do go on to
use that same shot won't that be cool then!

P.S.
They will however will have to remove that line in the end of the credits that
says "No aliens have been hurt during the making of this episode" :)
