Thank you for this, macabre as it is. Gives us an opportunity to shed a tear at the passing of many
old friends...:(
While I can't think of Actors, I can think of one thing:
> 111) Gene Roddenberry 1921-91, voice of Galley Chief in "Charlie X" ,
> cardiac arrest
It SHOULD be noted he's the creator of Star trek. Sure, we all know it, but then
we all know a lot of things in this list. Credit where Credit is due. :)
I wasn't born until after the Original Trek had it's run, but thankfully before
the first film was made. A lot of people know where they were when they heard
JFK was shot, or Elvis had died. I can't say that. But I can say that I know
EXACTLY where I was when I heard about the passing of DeForest and Gene.
> 64) DeForest Kelley 1920-99, Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy, almost every TOS,
> the first six movies and "Encounter At Farpoint, part one", stomach cancer
I was sitting in the corner of my then-apartment, and turned on the news. Bam. I
honestly shed a tear for him. He and Jimmy Stewart were my favorite all time
actors.
> 111) Gene Roddenberry 1921-91, voice of Galley Chief in "Charlie X" ,
> cardiac arrest
I was up at the ungodly hour of 7 am for school, and heard on the morning radio
he'd passed on over the night. I was kind of dazed all day...
And watching ST4 today on TNN again, I managed to catch the beginning with the
dedication to the Challenger crew. I was home sick from school that morning, and
actually watched it happen.
On a lighter note, can we put Kes on there because of Fury? I was sooooo happy
she got shot. :)

I remember what I was doing when I heard the news.
I was watching the news.

"Journey Home" should of course be "Voyage Home", and you forgot the
TNG episode "Sarek".

Thanks for the cool post John, I just hope you don't have to update it
too often :-)

What happened is that a lot of male actors in Hollywood are gay,
and many contracted HIV in the 80's -- when the disease was
devastating the gay male populations in NYC, San Francisco,
and LA, including Hollywood -- and have since died.
As the disease progressed into the heterosexual population in
the 90's (and in fact 75% of the HIV+ people worldwide have
contracted it through heterosexual contact) treatments finally
became available, which have allowed more people of whatever
orientation to survive longer.
