A "Battlestar Galactica" alum is working on a new "Star Trek" series
he hopes to pitch to CBS.
Interesting...
How much more chance will this have compared to the pitch JMS made?

I'd rather have Braga and Orci work on Trek than JMS.

ignored in favor of the older continuity.

Anyway, it claims to not "disregard" the previous series, but when it
mentions the Ferengi I wonder if they'll remember that Rom's
appointment as Grand Nagus signaled a reformation of Feringinar away
from its traditional avaricious state. There weren't a lot of details
but it was definitely a story arc (as was Nog's unexpected Starfleet
career and Quark's ultimate declaration of admiring the Federation's
ability to keep stability).
(And as much as I liked Quark, Nog and Rom, why would they pick the
Ferengi as major players in a new series?)

I will be blunt. I'd probably watch it.
Well, he never got to. :-)
Of course- love it or loathe it, but JJ Trek made money, and there's
no business as whoreish as show business.

Well... "Trek continuity" has always been a lot like "political
ethics." Besides, they never said how long Rom would last as Grand
Nagus. IIRC the Ferengi could remove a Nagus from power for not being
profitable enough, and part of Nog's decision to join Starfleet was
based on the fact that Rom's engineering talents meant nothing to
other Ferengi since he didn't have any business sense.

The Ferengi were suposed to be the Big Bads for TNG, until we actually
saw the goofy little fellers. Mayhaps this new guy thinks he can give
the comic relief wannabes a more sinister edge, the same way horror
movie peeps make kids and dolls and household pets seem creepy and
menacing.
