In Godfather II, when feeble Don Ciccio gets knifed to death by Vito
Corleone, does the Don actually realize who's doing it and why? He shouts
something in Italian that I can't understand. The question of whether or
not he understands has always bothered me. Can anyone out there who speaks
Italian interpret what he's saying?

Are you for real? That happened so long ago, I doubt that even the ghost of
young Vito Corleone remembers it. Why don't you ask Vito's grandchildren or
something? I'm sure there are a lot of them, and that they wouldn't mind
talking about this. But keep what they say to yourself. There's this oath
of Omerta thing they're gonna lay on ya, and BELIEVE ME, you don't wanna
break that.

He calls Vito a "Son of a whore." (Figlio di puttana)

Why?? Because he just stuck a knife in his gut.

I believe what he said was, "where's my pissboy, I just shit my pants and need
a new pair of briefs..."

Ah. So it is never made clear. Thank you, Ray M, for a straight answer.

To Righter, thanks for the small attempt to bring humor, if not light, to
the subject.

A minor observation - whenever I've hear the word "omerta" mentioned aloud
in real life, it was by someone who wasn't Italian, or at least wasn't born
in New Jersey. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
