Have they ever said where the name "Meadow" comes from? Its just
doesn't fit with a family of Tony, Carmela and Anthony Jr.

I'm guessing that David Chase made it up.

Meadow is a typical name that is given out by uneducated, flaky housefrows.
Other names of this nature are Winter, Summer, Rain...and so on, and so forth.

Tony was once whistling in Carm's wheatfield?

He was a bushman of the calamari?

So.. he was blowing wind in the meadow?

I just came back from a visit in New York City. My husband and I took the
Soprano's tour that is offered by Imar.com tours. It was pretty good. We
went to some locations shoots - Satriales (which is an empty store), the
Bada Bing (also went inside). We met "Vito" Joe G. and got some photos with
him. He seems like a very nice man. We had a really great tour guide who
has been an extra on the show. He gave us lots of info on the show and the
actors and lots of trivia questions to answer. Very enjoyable tour overall.
I would recommend it for Soprano fans. I asked Mark our tour guide how did
Meadow get her name - he said that David Chase and his wife were in a
restaurant in California and were still coming up with ideas for the
Sopranos. The waitress in the restaurant was named Meadow. Chase liked the
name and filed it away for future reference to name a character in the
Sopranos that. That's how Meadow got her name. I don't think on the show
they have ever explained the significance of it.

I thought it was short for Meadowlark, like the guy who used to play for the
Globe Trotters

Whoa, man. Respect that azz. She wears it well. And she gets it

Yea, it's amazing how she gets it 'naturally' from Tony and Carmella,
especially since none of them are related in real life. It's only a
friggin' TV show, dude.

Her middle name is "Meadows". Her first name is "Flushing".

Nooooo, its real just like Survivor and Road Rules! They even have a Soprano
cook book out now; who do you think made up those recipes?

context of the show, not "reality"..

Bushman of the calamari? That's even better than what he really said:
Bushman of the Kalahari

That's my guess too. Either Chase, or one of the other writers decided that
would be her name, and then all the characters started calling her that
whenever the script called for it. And once they started calling her that,
the name just stuck. What can I say?
