My buddy and I have five bucks riding on this:

I was watching Smallville last night, and during every shot of Lana in
the gym pool scene they cut the film before every body shot and during
all of the "action" shots (flipping on the diving board, etc.). Does
anyone know if she had a body double/stunt person do everything here
or not? My buddy refuses to believe this! He claims that she could
have done everything herself because she used to be a gymnast. Can
anyone offer any help here? Thanks,

This is what Tommy Two Times had to say...

It's generally accepted that a double was used, although your friend is
correct that KK has some gymnastic experience. IMDB.com lists Marny
Eng, a Canadian stunt woman as KK's stunt double on 'Smallville'. Marny
Eng's site doesn't list her 'Smallville' credit, but does show she too
has Olympic caliber training and is certified as a gymnastic coach.

There was only one color photo on her site:

http://www.stuntscanada.net/marny_eng.htm - under "action photos"

I think it's safe to say she was the body double in 'Nicodemus'.

yes, apparently she did. I believe Kristin made a comment in a magazine
regarding the question.

This has been an argument since the episode aired, so I don't know if
you're going to get a definative answer. I think the majority of
people believe that it was, in fact, a body double (me included). If
not for the athletic scenes (insurance reasons), then certainly for
the bare body shots. There are no continuing shots of her butt or
breasts to her face in the whole scene. And some clain to see some
body descrepancies.

However, since no one has come out and said "I was the body double",
or "It really was me in those scenes", for now, it remains a mystery.
Or at least fodder for a lot of arguments.

Feel free to check it out for yourself on this page some guys put
up...

I couldn't believe in last night's episode when Lana sauntered into school
wearing the least sexy sexy outfit I'd ever seen, yet all the students stoped
what they were doing and gawked. Has no girl in Smallville ever worn black
eyeliner and showed off her knees before?
Then when they got to the pool scene with its obvious body double shots it all
made sense to me. Kirsten Kreuk just isn't comfortable showing off her body so
the creators had to employ some trickery to keep to the script.
Truly a sad day for male Kirsten Kreuk fans everywhere...

Somehow I don't think shyness was the issue, see Ian's post of her
photos from Arena Magazine to see what I mean. Someone mentioned they
most likely used a stunt double (Marny Eng most likely) for insurance
reasons. Who knows why KK didn't do the body shots. I honestly didn't
mind and think the scene played just fine.

The two web pages I visit more than any other:

http://us.imdb.com/ and http://www.google.com

I did a search for 'Smallville' on IMDb.com and went to the "full cast
and crew" page:

http://us.imdb.com/Credits?0279600

I then scrolled down to the "stunt" section and found Marny (also Marni)
Eng listed as a stunt double for Kristin Kreuk. Then it was just a
matter of doing a search on Google for "marny eng" which brought up 162
hits (mostly useless) and the first two were for Marny Eng's page at
Stuntscanada.com.

The producers are being really paranoid about sexually exploiting Kristin
Kreuk, probably because she is under 18 and child pornography laws would
put them all in prison if they took a sexually suggestive photo of her.

I doubt KK had anything to say about it. The producers would not risk
injury to a major cast member. Handsprings on a diving board are a good
place to break your neck.

And yes, there is a blanket prohibition on cheesecake photos of KK.
We'll just have to wait until she is legal.

Kristin's age is actually closer to 20, fyi. I still believe that there
was a body double because of a personal objection on her part (whatever
the nature of that objection may be, but it's not a statutory age issue).

Here is a comment from another newsgroup:
"If it's the indoor pool scene from the Nicodemus episode of
Smallville, then it was a body double. Kristin stated this herself in
an online chat (transcript available) on one of her fan sites. She
stated that she didn't want to objectify herself in that way. But
then she appears almost naked in a British rag (scans available at
kristinkreuk.net, or something close to that). Go figure..."

It wouldn't be child porn just for being sexually suggestive. It'd have to
include a lewd display of sex organs, which the scene certainly did not.

Calling those photos "almost naked" is stretching a point. I've seen
nuns who wore less.

Interesting. I didn't know KK's nose had been broken. It makes the
stories of her gymnastics training a little more believable. She
wouldn't be the first girl to dismount on her face.
