I just saw the last episode on tape. As far as Clark explaining himself:

Clark should just get Pete to tell Lana he 'found' some pills in his jacket
the next day. He could say he probably got high off the parasite in the
cave and then, in his party mode, scored some drugs off someone at the rave.
Then he slipped some of them to Clark somehow. They could say Pete wanted
to party and Clark humored him by having a drink with him or they were
eating in the car, and Pete had drugged it and then he was 'high' or
'stoned' or whatever, but was somehow open to making out with a crazy Chloe.
Then Clark fell down and woke up relatively sober when Lana dumped the water
on him.

This is practically the truth but with drugs instead of red kryptonite.

That's the thing, though - Clark doesn't want to lie to Lana anymore.

I don't think anything's going to happen between those two unless he can be
completely honest with her, because she won't accept anything less.

I don't think Lex knows, but he suspects, as he has all along. Although I
think recently his suspicions have reached an all-time high.

Lionel, on the other hand... I think he knows quite a bit.

That was my first thought when she said that... I thought for sure she was
pretending. But unless both she and Pete are pulling Clark's leg about the
amnesia thing, it doesn't appear to me that this is the case. We'll see. It
would certainly be an interesting little plot twist for the season.

of course everyone believes it.
somebody forgets the span of an episode
in every other episode.

And there's always the recovered-memory gag...
