Does it really matter? I think that you are kind of missing the
point here, Arlene. Another person's sexuality is none of your
business unless he/she flaunts it in your face. Homosexuals play
heterosexual parts, heterosexuals play homosexual parts; who (beside

I'm not inconvenienced so much as I am mortified by such an unabashed

By the way, if you make it a practice to apologize for dumb
articles you post, you owe the group another apology. Well, at
least in my opinion...
(God, I hope that this no-forehead pinhead isn't going to provoke
a flame war on the sexual identity thing.)
Followups are being directed elsewhere.

Why don't you get a dictionary and look up the work "tolerance". BTW, I am not gay either but as long as they don't come on to me, let them make their own choices. They will have to answer to God someday and I am not here to judge them.

The worst part, James, is these people are without a clue. They accept
what other ignoramouses (sp) have said, and never think (key word) enough to
realize how idiotic they sound.
I don't believe in evil, but if I did, bigots would top the list.
BTW - I don't like Wade on her own merits. They need to mature the
character a bit, methinks.

Now, normally I don't like to defend this type of behavior, but
before everyone jumps all over poor Arlene I just want you to be aware of
the situation.... Arlene is a good friend of mine from school, and she is
going through some rough times (described below). I debated with writing
this (It is difficult to decide if this would cause more trouble than
solve), but in the end I think it is important that both you all back off
from being too pushy, and Arlene, I know this is rough to hear sweety, but
you HAVE to deal with the truth.
Arlene's mother just announced to the family that she is unsure
about her own sexuality, that she has always felt this way, and that she
will probably leave them in order to discover herself, find out who she
is. The situation is really tragic because Arlene has a 2 year old sister
who is very attached to her mother, and a father who will be devastated
once he is alone.... but yet her mother has been confused and depressed
for a long time, at times was even suicidal; It sounds strange to say, but
Arlene, you have to face facts : Your moma NEEDS this. She loves you very
much, but sometimes people have to do things that are going to be hurtful
to others. She will be thinking about you, but (and it is no one's fault)
she has to do this.
Everyone here : Please hold back from being too critical right
now. I've known Arlene for years and she really is a wonderful person.
Before all of this she would have been the most tolerant and accepting of
anyones viewpoints and identity. She just has a little bit of pent up
anger right now, but she is going to make it through this just fine.

After reading the last link in the thread, all I could do was *gasp*
I don't know about the rest of you, but the mere fact that he took it
upon himself to reveal very personal and private facts and situations in
Arlene's life and family on the net, whether it proves to be true or not,
shows very poor judgement.....not to mention being a brainless moron.
Whether you meant the best or not...I would never want you as my friend.
And as for the gay/bisexual thing...I have counted gay and bisexual
people among my most trusted of friends...and as said before, it is a
choice in lifestyle....not a disease. Live with it.

OOhhh... might I have your glorious permission to keep using oxygen? I may be
bi, but I am not a fairy. I spent time in the Army as an Airborne Ranger,
travelled around the country and the world, and learned to accept people for
what they are, and they are fascinating.
Now you tell me that I make you sick. You don't know me. If you met me and
my wife, you'd have a hard time telling that we are both bi. That attitude is
what caused millions of Jews to get killed in the Holocaust (including many
relatives of mine.)

Saying you are not gay would have been enough if you truly felt it
necessary to defend your masculinity, but saying you despise gays
reveals to us that you are not only who probably graduated in the bottom
ten percent of your high school class, but that you are also in fact a
bigot!

Ah, so you're admitting to being a complete asshole.

I agree with you, Arlene. Homosexuality is not natural and GOD is not
too fond of it either. In the BIBLE, it says...
Leviticus 20:13-"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a
woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely
be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
> You should apologize to ppl who walk erect too after you neanderthal

The Neandertals walked upright, too.
(I know, a stupid, petty, little nitpick, but I am bored.)

You are not alone
The Bible contains 6 admonishments to homosexuals and 326 admonishments to
heterosexuals. That doesn't mean God doesn't love heterosexuals--He just
thinks they need more supervision.
Additionally, bear in mind that Leviticus also prescribes the death penalty
for:
* Sleeping with your wife within five days of the end of her period
* Wearing a garment made of two or more different fabrics
(wow - getting the chair for a cotton/poly blend....)
* Eating shellfish
* Talking back to ANY authority
So, until all of you fanatics start commiting suicide over your wardrobes and
diet, and start checking your wives' tampon usage for a target date....
Keep your damned religion out of my bedroom!
I am a Buddhist. Guess what The Buddha said about homosexuality? Here it is,
in its entirety....
Stunning, isn't it?
(Coincidentally enough, that's exactly what JESUS had to say about it, as
well....)

Sorry, it was late, I was pissed, and neanderthals were the first

:)
No a bigot is someone who condemns someone who is different, but has
done nothing to deserve condemnation(such as what color they are,
religion they're born into, or who they find sexually attractive or
love). I am someone who needs the person to actually do something "bad"
to be condemned in my eyes, and that means you have to do a lot more
than fall in love w/ someone of the same sex.
You are entitled to your views, and I'm entitled to tell you where you
can shove them :)
Sam Deth
And I have no fondness for any type of elves, pixies, niads, or any other
magical types. :-) But why tell us about it? The use of slurs is
unnecessary, even if you are a bigot.
I am heterosexual too but I don't use ethnic, or orientation slurs.

And also the idea was done already on ST:TNG. The episode (whatever
title) where all the people of the species are supposed to be
genderless. A person was "reeducated" because she felt female. A good
episode. But it is easier for Star Trek to do that because reproduction
isn't a difficulty, they're aliens.
An episode where humans evolved to reproduce asexually? Or lay eggs?
Of course to be realistic they'd be nothing like humans ohwell.
