I got this idea after reading this AVClub.com article about the second
season of Last Man Standing being the "weirdest" for a sitcom since
the fourth/final sesaon of 'Til Death:
http://www.avclub.com/articles/last-man-standings-second-season-was-the-weirdest,95857/

I also heard that the ninth/final season of How I Met Your Mother will
take place over a single weekend (in essence, it seems to be aiming to
be a sitcom version of 24):

Of the top of my head, I think that it goes w/o saying that you can't
do a discussion regarding the all time "weird" seasons for sitcoms w/o
talking about the last season of Roseanne, when the Connors won the
lottery.

Similarly, ABC has a new sitcom titled 'MIXOLOGY' that consists of an entire
season that covers one night of activity at a bar.
