Cletus was also in " Home Sweet Home-Diddily-Dum-Doodily" when Marge
and Homer had to go to school to learn to be good parents. He was
there.

Goodman: OK, let's see if we've learned anything. I want you two to
simulate a typical household problem. Go.
Cletus: [on Homer's knee] Uh, Pa, I cut my finger on the screen door
again.
Homer: Why you cotton-pickin' -- [strangles Cletus]
[the class looks critically at Homer]
[to himself] No, I gotta pass this class for my kids.
[to Cletus] Son, let's stop the fussin' and the feudin'.
Cletus: [stricken] I love you, Pa! [weeps]
Homer: I love you, Cletus! [weeps]
[the class cheers; some shoot guns into the air]

I love that scene.

as a point of interest, i have the TABLE DRAFT 8/19/93 VERSION of the
script for "BART GET'S AN ELEPHANT" and at that point it time, CLETUS
THE SLACK JAWED YOKEL did not exist! the scene does not contain cletus
or his line about girl/pointy hair. did this EP mark the character's
first appearance?

FROM THE SCRIPT:

HELEN LOVEJOY walks up to marge and lisa

HELEN LOVEJOY: That animal of yours is certainly bad-tempered.

LISA: You'd be grumpy too if you were taken out of your natural habitat
and gawked at by a bunch of slack-jawed yokels.

BART: You guys don't understand him. Stampy's like me. we don't take
nothing from nobody. we're a pair of jokers and both of us are wild.

We see MILHOUSE get off the elephant and MR. BURNS climb up.

Also, in the ep when Marge buys that dress at the outlet store, she goes back
later for another one. All they had new was a bunch of burned clothes from
Sears. I think it was Cletus' wife (or he himself, I cannot remember) who
appears and says, "How much and how burnt?"

Yes! That's also the episode where Cletus holds up a half-shirt with
"Classy Lassy" written on it and says, "Hey, Brandine. You can wear this
shirt to work." To which Brandine responds, "Oh, Cletus. You know I gotta
wear the shirt what Dairy Queen give me."

Jimbo, Kerney, and Nelson are paying him out:

Dont forget at the itchy and scratchy theme park he's taking a photo of
the robots. And when the simpsons are invited to join the country club,
early in the episode he's there at the clothes shop

Lisa : What kind of people where these things?

Cletus : Hey Lurlene, you could wear this to work!

Lurlene : Now Cletus, you know I gotta wear what Dairy Queen give me."

I don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but in the pretzal episode,
when Cletus is naming all his kids, some of the names are
"Rumer...Scout...Cassady...Dakota" which are the names of Demi Moore's and
Melanie Griffith's kids.

He was alos in the Itchy and Scratchy Land episode. He said:

"Hey Ma, I'm gonna get me a picture of this crazy critter."

And he took a flash photo graph of the robot causing it to short out.

also, when homer and marge are forced to take the parenting class, and
cletus and his wife/girlfriend/sister are in the class too, and the teacher
says to homer, "you be the father" and to cletus "you be the child" and
cletus ends up jumping into homer's lap, hugging him and he says "I love you
Paw!!" to which Homer replies, hugging him back, "I love you too, Cletus!"
VERY FUNNY SCENE!!! and the first time we learn Cletus' name.

Another episode involving Cletus is [3F01] Home Sweet
Home-Diddily-Dum-Doodily. This is the one where Homer and Marge get
their kids taken away by HRS and they are put into a foster home... the
Flanders'. Homer and Marge are sentenced to take a "Family Skills"
class, and Cletus is stuck doing some role-playing with Homer in front
of the class.

Don't forget the episode where Marge `n' Homer have to go to parenting
class (w/Cletus) and the recent show with Sideshow Bob and his brother....

I have watched that episode tons of times and I distinctly remember Cletus
being there. Also, during the 21 short films about Springfield, during
the opening for Cletus, they show that part in the Stampy episode.

He also appears in the one where Marge has the pretzel business. He
has 150 "free pretzel" coupons and yells "Hey kids, we're eatin'
tonight" and proceeds to call about 46 kids out of his shack. Notice
all of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' kids names are mentioned.

This further proves my theory that the simpsons has the world's best ever
cast of supporting characters, in any tv show, novel, movie, etc
