Maybe I'm creating a false memory here, but I think I remember
that Vincent Price Egg Magic actually existing (eggisting) when I was
a wee tot in the early Seventies. I seem to recall TV commercials for
it.
In fact, the second they mentioned it, I was positive I
remembered it. Then I started to doubt that such a thing ever had
existed. I've wavered a few times.
Does anyone else remember? If I am making it up, at least I'm
finding out now how susceptible I am to suggestion!

I bet one legend that keeps recurring throughout history, in every
culture, is the story of Popeye.

I think that this a reference to Vincent's role as "Egghead" on the old
"Batman" series.

I think TDMcLemore has this right: I found someones page describing V.Price's
role as "Egghead", and that he made tons of references to Eggs.

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/7537/egghead.htm = Vincent Price
Egghead page (futher proof that if it exists, it's on the net)

So this would be an offical DYN?

Oh, no doubt about it. What I'm saying is that (IIRC) the "Egg
Magic" thing was also inspired by his Egghead role, and instead of
being a funny joke of something he did to cash in on that, the VPEM
was something he actually did to cash in on that.

You might be remembering that Vincent Price shrunken apple head thing,
because when someone else posted a memory of that, I suddenly remembered
seeing those ads as a kid in the early-to-mid '70s.

What was up with "Jody Price," though? Is that someone Vincent actually
used to talk about? If not, and it was just a joke for the show, then
the writers should have gone with the name "Fisher." IMHO.

Yeah, that was certainly one thing. I still have a hunch that
the Egg Magic was portrayed eggsactly as it was, though.

That also rings a humongous bell, and did at the time it was
first mentioned on the show. A male "Jody" lurks somewhere in my early
memory, besides the one on "Family Affair."

It's amazing how vague things get in your memory when you
haven't thought about them for the last 85% of your life.

I also liked Marge writing "Jody Price" on the notepad, for no
good reason. It was reminiscent of Bart writing "Billy" when taking
notes on the film on how to hatch a baby bird.

Finally, Egghead was a bald guy on a power trip who often said
"Excellent" when pleased (spelled with two 'g's) -- part of the
same stereotype behind Burns, I think.

I think there was a similar product in the 60's or 70's. I remember these little decal faces on our bathroom medicine cabinet (there were four of them) similar to the ones shown on the Simpsons. When I was a kid I asked my mother where they came from and she said that they were part of an egg decorating kit! Vincent Price's Egg Magic may be a combination of his role as Egghead and an actual egg decorating kit.
