should be
Apu Devomarshay
but that doesnt really count........

If you dont believe me, Activate the close caption feature on your television,
if there is one. If anyone says Apu's last name while you watch the Simpsons,
it will be in black and white at the bottom of the screen if you have the Close
Caption feature activated.

I have also seen it spelled NahasapeemapitilAn. That's in many
episode capsules, etc @ snpp.com. That is also the way that the
closed captioners spelled it. Of course these are the same closed
closed captoiners who incorrectly type some hiliarious lines. For

I'll nit pick you one further, I beileve Apu's last name in that ep to
be Apu De Bon Marche (French for the "Grand March) (The Bon Marche is

You're wrong, my friend. First of all, if you listen to the scene it is
quite easy to hear the there is no 'n' in the name. The way it sounds is
"bow-marsh-ay."
The episode capsule spells it as I did, , (I checked) and don't mess with
the episode capsule guys, they know what they're talking about.

Grand March" as you said. The store, "Le Bon Marche" however makes sense as
the name of the store, for the simple reason that the phrase means "The Good
Store."

The French verb "marcher" means "to walk"...or march, I suppose. "March" does

If you aren't deaf, these are the only reasons you should have Closed
Caption on:
1. When you want to figure out how to spell someone's name.
2. When reception is bad and the captions are all italic and green and
display box characters.
