Nobody who wants to make it public does. (Besides, if it ever did
become public, Matt would just change it - it's a lot easier than
changing a street address or a home phone number.)

What do you think would happen if Matt's "personal" E-mail address (as
opposed to, say, one that's screened by someone at Fox) would be
public information? I can see hundreds of not thousands of E-mails
every day, mainly consisting of:

1. "I have an idea for an episode..."

2. "Here's a script for your show", with the script attached. (These
first two are especially problematic if the sender managed to get a
"receipt" when it was opened, as the show then can't use the idea even
if they came up with it on their own unless they can prove they
thought of it first. For those of you who remember the letter Peggy
got on the "King of the Hill" season finale, suffice it to say that
songs are not the only things sent in from fans that are left unopened
for legal reasons.)

3. "I think the show is going downhill. Stop making new episodes
NOW!" (occasionally resent 100 times by the same person)

4. "When is the movie coming out, and what's it about?"

5. "Could you send me a hand-drawn, autographed, picture of Bart?"

6. "Remember me from high school?" (Those of you who know who Craig
Bartlett is, I've had three people ask me in the last six months how
to contact him, telling me they knew him from school.)

Please ignore this obvious forgery.
The real Matt Groening is Internet & Usenet savvy and would never breach
the boundaries of Netiquette with this top posting response.
Anyway, I never read this newsgroup, have nothing to do with the show
anymore and have a staff of monkey's banging out each weeks episodes.
And whatever you do, *do not* try to email me.

I have a friend who's a simpsons fan that you guys can email. He's the type
of guy who if he suddenly got all this email addressed to Matt G, he would
pretend to be Matt G and reply to most of it. Anyone interested in having
