Okay, I know there's lots of experts out there... so I have a question for you.

My friend heard somewhere that Matt Groening is an atheist. I had never heard
this before... is it just a rumor?

Thanks,

-Brian

Um, so what if he is. That's his own choice. Anyway, I know a lot of christians who
make fun of christians in the same manner. I know even more Christians who think
the Christian jokes are even funnier than I find them.
And also, the Simpsons makes fun of A LOT of stereotypes(Christians,Jews,Old Folks,
Police Officers, and the list goes on)
I think that those being made fun of find it funnier than others. It is absolute
comic genius.
BTW, if we stick to the Groening being an Athyest with Christian upbringing, I
think his father was a cop(Wiggum), mother was a clown(Krusty), Unlce was a
teacher(Any teacher on Simpsons), I think you get my point.
Anyway, no matter what he is, he's DAMN FUNNY!

You don't have to be an atheist to make fun of self-righteous aggrandizing. In
fact, just avoiding organized religion does not make you an atheist.

Hey genius boy, Homer said "prejudice against all racists." Maybe you

I thought it was "races".

Anyhoo, I think the religious slant of The Simpsons is that it may be
unwise to completely rule out spirituality in case of retribution by
unseen, divine powers, but that organised religions are ridiculous
dogma- and hypocrisy-filled entities.

Actually, that was Superintendent Chalmers, not Skinner.

If Homer had been baptized, it would have occurred long before the show,
when Homer was still a child. We really don't know if Homer was
baptized, but it is not that unlikely, since his father is a regular
church-goer, and Homer was in the church choir when he was young.

So, does that mean Groening is an albino?

No, he has yellow skin, four fingers on each hand, an overbite, and big,
round eyes. He based the Simpsons' appearance on his own.
