WOW!! What a great episode. If anyone says it sucked, then they should
just shut-up and watch something else. When Mr. Burns "sat down", I
screamed with laughter. This is the best episode I've ever seen. There's
too much to comment on right now.

It was one of the better episodes of the season. A good bounce back from a
lousy episode a couple of weeks ago with The Critic. Some of the moments
that were memorable were CNNBCBS (A Division of ABC) with Kent Brochman
still as anchor <ROTFLOL>, Lisa's "animal rights" reason for becoming a
vegetarian, the 1500 Channel Cable at Moe's Tavern, Maggie wearing a
necklace with a pacifier on it, and many more hilarious items. It looked
like a accurate prediction of the Simpson family (and Springfield) in
2010.

as I posted in another topic, this ep was mediocre. Old plot, old stunts.
Very few laughs, except when homer shows the burning flag, and the gags.
One thing that was pretty good, was seeing the future...looks like the
writers have been watching BAck to the Future :)

and before I get flamed to death, I think the story was great, it just
disappointed me that it didn't really make *me* laugh very much.

Absolutely fantastic!!!!

My favorite sequence was the flag starting on fire, Homer stomping on it,
Marge's "Quick, throw compost on it", and then handing the mangled, smelly
flag to the fiance.

I agree. It managed to be funny and touching. I loved adult Bart,
and not letting teenage Maggie talk had me in stitches. I have
not felt like keeping very many of the episodes that I have taped
this season, but this is one for the archives!

I have to agree. This was a great epsiode. There was above average
subtle jokes this week. My favorite was Heather Locklear-Fortinski
is still at large. I guess in the future Liz divorced him.?.?

Lisa, how could you sleep with Milhouse. What were you thinking?

I enjoyed the list of celerbrities that have been arrested. You have to
watch it in slow motion. Being a fan of the Performer formerly known as
Prince is was extremely funny to see his symbol on the list.

No kidding, this episode was terrific. Just when I started to think
the writing staff had fallen apart, they managed to come up with
something brilliant like this. It was utterly hysterical in so many
subtle ways that it almost manages to balance out all of the dull
episodes from earlier this season. Finally, an episode that
successfully combines both classic Simpsons humour and great character
development in a tidy half-hour package. Most episodes either go one
way or the other, and often fall apart in the middle, but 'Lisa's
Wedding' proved to be the exception.

The characters were all aged feasibly, and I could really see them
turning out that way in fifteen years (minus the digital interface on
Big Ben, of course). Not to mention the assorted ways they got around
having Maggie say anything. Incredible!

KT> I noticed though that Bart did not have the usual stubble or goatee
KT> that he usually is drawn with when they have blasts into the future,
KT> but instead followed in his father's footsteps. :) Yeah, another
KT> Homer! Not

Well, instead of reverting back to the simple older characterizations
they've used in the past, mainly in daydreams, the writers decided to
age the characters in a realistic manner, or at least in a way so that
it wasn't just a carbon copy head stuck on a non-descript adult body.
Sure, the voices could have used a little maturing, but it's also likely
that they could have proved to have been a distraction, as well. The
only voice that was remarkably changed through maturity was Martin's.

And, you're right, there were a lot of signs of Homer within the
circa 2010 version of Bart. Enough striking resemblance to notice, but
not enough to make him out to be a Homer-clone.

KT> Did anyone happen to catch the names that Kent Brockman listed (it
KT> went really fast) about some celebrities that were arrested or
KT> something.

Well, even though this list will likely be posted several times this
week, I figured I'd put it up now, anyway. You're using the same
Internet hub that I am, so you'll notice it right away, along with the
other 'Did You Notice' subtle tidbits of 'Lisa's Wedding'. Feel free to
comment on them. You'll be happy to see that Ralph Wiggum wasn't
excluded from the episode entirely, after all.

In retrospect, I haven't enjoyed an episode of The Simpsons this much
since 'Selma's Choice' aired in '93. I hope I'm not alone in that
regard.

I could picture it now:

Bart: Milhouse, Lisa doesn't melt.

Milhouse: Oh yes she does!

Or even better:

<after Lisa and Milhouse do the nasty>

Milhouse: MY GLASSES!!!!!

_That_ was the one true shocker. I'd have thought that _if_ she had gone "all
the way" it would have been with someone like... Rex, I guess. But
_Milhouse_?!? He must have gotten her drunk. ;)

I agree. This was truly a great episode. It was a nonstop riot from
start to finish. It was fascinating to see how all of the characters lives turn
out. Who would have thunk it. Lisa loses her virginity to Milhouse? Wow. Great
episode.

Evidently the stress of Lisa's rejection caused Milhouse to lose
the hair on the top of his head. Stress related alopecia, perhaps?

Pedantic answer:

It was in keeping with the Fortune Teller's desire to fortell
only the horrible loves of Lisa. If there was a good one in there, Lisa
wouldn't be told. No double entendre intended.
