Does anyone know why the Simpsons staff haven't made any new episodes featuring
Sideshow Bob?

Because the writers have serious trouble making a plot that isn't totally
wacky and doesn't involve Homer?

Bart saved Sideshow Bob's life in that ep -- Bob is a kindler, gentler
lunatic now. If he was going to kill anybody, it'd probably be Cecil.

Okay, howabout a 'Silence of The Lambs' parody?

Cecil is on the loose, but his brother Sideshow Bob is still in prison.
Lisa (for whatever reason) must gain SSB's trust in order to apprehend the
insane Cecil...

Nah.

For one thing, there's the fact that with the last SB episode they kind of
wrote themselves and him into a corner.
That episode has a lot going for it, but it still may have been a mistake, from
the perspective of making new episodes.

Well, I'd certainly say that "Cape Feare" was totally wacky, and that was a
Sideshow Bob episode. I suppose that a Bob episode could involve Homer, too,
although they usually give a more prominent role to Bart.

Would it really be an exercise in unbelievability for the writers to think up a
new way for Bart to piss off Bob? Or to give Bob circumstances that would make
him turn to crime again?

The latest episode featuring Sideshow Bob was "Brother From Another
Series," from Season Eight, in which the episode concludes with him
and his brother being put in jail.

I agree, another SB episode would bring back the spirit of some of
the older episodes.
