INHO, 5 eps stand out as my able-to-watch-over-and-over-again faves:
"22 Short Films..."
"Mountain of Madness"
"Hurricane Neddy"
"El Viaje Misterioso..."
"Scenes from a Class Struggle..."

Also, WSMB 1 and 2 are awesome for their pure dramatic value, if nothing
else.

Somehow I get the feeling that most people here aren't big fans of the eps I
mentioned...is this true?

My favorite is "One fish, two fish, blowfish, blue fish". Definitely one of the
more dramatic episodes.

I'm sorry....I know you are entitled to your opinion, but what makes you feel
that this is one of the best ever? In my own opinion (and I believe there are
plenty of others who feel this way; at least everybody I've discussed it with)
this episode only had TWO good things going for it: "open faced sand wedge" and
Evelyn Peters (who unfortunately has yet to return). The rest of the episode was
just stressed out Marge, who probably broke the record for being the most
annoying character on the show, and Lisa wasn't much better.

Well, there was a poll done a couple of years ago....I'm sure somebody can
help you with that link.

I believe the most beloved episodes among most of the group are:
9F15 Last Exit to Springfield (was my favourite episode for YEARS....until the
next item came along)
3F18 22 Short Films about Springfield
7F19 Lisa's Substitute (not one of my favourites....but this would be a
favourite for just about everyone that likes Lisa)
1F15 Bart Gets an Elephant
4F23 The Principal and the Pauper

and TV Guide has said this MANY times - "The greatest Simpsons episode ever was
7F12 The Way We Was, because it gives us flashbacks to high school." and in
some cases it will be followed up by "but 9F19 Krusty Gets Kancelled was a
close secondbecause Johnny Carson was in it"

oh, yes, I WAS kidding when I put 4F23 on the list...heh, it's probably the
least popular episode here, next to 5F24 All Singing All Dancing (The Simpsons
Clip Show #4)

SO many to pick from and I know I'll forget heaps.
Um I love
"Mother Simpson"
"Homer the Heretic"
"Krusty Gets Cancelled"
"Bar The Dare Devil"
"El Viaje Misterioso..."
And "Halloween Specials 2,3 and 4"

Thats all I can think of off hand, I know I like the episode where Homer
tries to loose weight and Marge paints Mr Burns (unsure of the name) and
where the simpsons get a pool, all the clip episodes, Burns' Bear Bobo to
many to name, some episodes are sub par but have classic LOL gags in them
so it's quiet hard.

Cheif Wiggum - "Put out an A.P.B for a uosdwis r dewou"
Cheif Wiggum - "Better Start with Greek Town"
Dragnet Guy - "It says Homer J Simpson, your reading it upside down"
Cheif Wiggum - "Oh and Bring me back one of those gyroes"
Dragnet Guy - "Cheif, your Talking into your wallet"

I love it when Homer gets a part-time job at the Quicki-mart to pay for
Lisa' pony.

7:59 am - Anyway he comes home hopes in bed and goes to sleep.
8:00 am - The Alarm goes off and he gets up.

I always laugh at that scene

Almost all the episodes are "excellent" (as Burns would put it).
Off course they are. (Come on guys were talking about The Simpsons here!)
I personally don't pay attention to the "goodness" of an episode in a whole,
but more to the good parts in an episode (dialogs, fragments,...).
There's no such thing as the best episode. In an episode there will always
be good and bad parts.

I don't understand why everyone hates All Singing All Dancing so much.
I liked it. If you liked Songs in the Key of Springfield, you have to
like this, because it was a lot of the same songs, but shown on video,
all wrapped up in one neat little episode.

Snake's appearance was great, and who can resist "Paint Your Wagon!!"
Not I!!

Another Simpsons Clip Show was my least favorite clip show.

Clip shows are the bane of fans' existance. It is like cheating watchers out of
an extra episode, and 5F24 did it in its worst way. 9F17 was a good episode,
because there wasn't one clip in the entire first act, and even though acts 2
and 3 were full of them, there was actually a REAL story going on, plus there
was that whole annoyed grunt sequence. 2F33 was an ABSOLUTE clip show, in that
there was no plot; just a connection between past stories all having the same
theme, but at least they were obviously making fun of the clip show genre
throughout (well...during the 1st act anyway), plus there was the mmm and Moe
montages. And of course, 3F31 had plenty of new footage. All that 5F24 had was a
lot of old music clips that have little meaning without the rest of the episode
to go along with it, and the segues were PAINFUL to watch (although I WILL admit
that the Paint the Wagon part was funny).

My order for favourite to least favourite clip shows:
9F17, 3F31, 2F33, 5F24

I love the way it pokes fun at all the things you wonder about - How does Homer
get away wth not working all day long, how do they actually afford that house,

It's hard to name a "best" episode... with as many deifinitions of the word
as there are... Although it's not my perosnal favorite, Rosebud has to be,
in my opinion, the best episode of simpsons ever, simply because i cry every
time i see it..

As for my favorites, Lisa's Wedding, Secrets of a successful marriage,
Whacking day.

Eh. Opinions.

TV Guide had a best TV episodes ever list a few months back, in which
Krusty Gets Cancelled rated high, and in an uncannily fine choice, one of
my personal fave funniest eps, Homer & Apu also made the list.

I found it ironic when 5F24 aired (and still do) that so many a.t.s regulars
pan the episode... after going out and spending good money for SitKoS. 5F24
is a collection of music videos, and as such, I thought it was an excellent
episode. Second-best clip show, after the 138th Episode Spectacular.

Scenes from a Class Struggle contained one of my all time favorite quotes.
It was said by one of the society ladies. Something like, "Oh, don't worry,
Marge, her idea of wit is nothing more than an insightful comment delivered
with pinpoint accuracy and impeccable timing." Anyone have the actual
quote?

I recently tried to determine my favorite episode through process of
elimination (my life is sad, I know) and the last episode left standing was
"Homer's Enemy", though any of the top 15 could be #1 depending on the day.
They were:

15) The PTA Disbands
14) Homer Loves Flanders
13) A Milhouse Divided
12) You Only Move Twice
11) The Springfield Files
10) Lady Bouvier's Lover
9) Bart Sells His Soul
8) Secrets of a Successful Marriage
7) Rosebud
6) Deep Space Homer
5) Miracle on Evergreen Terrace
4) Cape Feare
3) Homer the Vigilante
2) Home Sweet Home Diddly-Dum-Doodly
1) Homer's Enemy

I got to a list of the Top 33 when I finally decided the whole thing was kind
of silly. Each show has it's moments. (well, most of them.)
