Bart vs. Space Mutants question

I have been trying to get help on the first level of Bart vs. the Space
Mutants everywhere, this is my last chance. I'm currently playing on a
Sega Genesis, but I don't think that should even matter...

I have 2 purple items left, the bird in the pet shop window and the
rocket in the fireworks window. Can anybody give me any help with this
or better yet, point me to a web site or FAQ with the information?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

The bird in the pet shop window -

You must walk within visual range of the bird.
Have a cherry bomb from the store.
Light the cherry bomb and let it fly.
When it explodes the noise will startle the bird and he will fly off.
Watch out for a dog nearby; it also is startled once in awhile
and has a tendency to be a little peeved when it gets startled.

As for the rocket in the fireworks window, do you mean
how to open the shades in the Springfield Retirement castle?
That's easy, stand within a half a screen and light the rocket,
it doesn't necessarily have to HIT the window to open the shade,
it can hit about 2-3 inches (tv screen wise) on the left side
and about the same distance on the right to have the desired effect.
