Well, no, but that music from Greg Lake was actually a part of a work
by Sergei Prokofiev. Specifically the "Troika" section from the Lt.
Kiji Suite. Lake sampled it (or rather borrowed it, since he did it
before the word "sampling" was used :)) when he wrote his Father
Christmas song.
Oh, the music from Woody Allen's "Love and Death".
I'd say it's more like Greg Lake reused the tune. "Sampling" at least to
me, suggests sampling a recording, which of course does generally carry
copyright issues.
Wouldn't the Russian music be out of copyright by now?
