Are YOU on crack? If the singing is the low part of every show they do
it on, why the hell do you own Songs in the Key of Springfield? I
mean, if it's so crappy and all....

Terry Yocham: Bizzare too say the least but fun too. The filler music was a
little cheezy but I think that's what they were shooting for. My only
complaint is they didn't show Lisa singing "Jazzman" from "Round Springfield."
Snake was a funny addition. I sometimes want to kill people when they get
songs stuck in my head. Overall Grade: B-

Are you people on crack? This was the worst simpsons episode ever! I
understand that fox makes them do one of these kinds of shows every year and I
wouldnt' mind that if all the clips they showed were funny. The singing is the
low point of every episode they do it on. Why make a show completely made of
the worst parts of every show? If I wanted to listen to their crappy music I
could just listen to my songs in the key of springfield cd. I was stunned when
I saw the commercial for it earlier and I thought they couldn't possibly be
stupid enough to make the same mistake they made with the Shari Bobbins
episode. But it was worse because this one had absolutely no story at all. I
can honestly say that I didn't laugh through the whole show. I have never
before said anything bad about the simpsons, but this one is just terrible. If
the future of the simpsons is filled with musicals then it won't last too much
longer.

The best song ever on "The Simpsons" was the mayor's campaign ad that said,
"It's not the mayor's fault the stadium collapsed..." Other than that,
the singing and dancing is indeed usually the lowlight of each ep of "The
Simpsons".
They need to have more stuff like they had 2 or 3 years ago, like
Krusty flying his plane around like a madman and crying because all his
porn got auctioned off.
I shut off the TV when I saw tonight's episode was rated TV-G instead
of TV-PG like the other episodes.

Are YOU on crack?? There's a difference between a music CD, or
soundtrack for that matter, and a *whole* show, that's 25min, with only
*crappy* music being sang by the simpsons.. It made Bart, Homer, and
even Snake look like girls, with all that dancing and singing... If i
were Maggie i would have killed myself.. I bet she was dissapointed when
the shotgun didn't go of on her.. If I were Snake I wouldn't have
another choice but to kill them all.. In my book this is ***THE WORST***
episode *ever*... I prefer TPATP anytime more that this piece of crap.

The sad thing is, 'clip' episodes do not have to be as poor as this one
was. The April Fool's clip show when Bart's shaken beer can lands Holmer
in the hospital was very funny and had almost as many new gags as it did
clips.

The credit-roll voice over of Snake shooting the producers was the
funniest thing about this show, and that will be cut to shreds in repeat
and syndication broadcasts.

And the self-referential "this blows" line and banner at the end just
shows that even the show's creative team must have sat back and thought,
"Wow, this sucks... but at least we get to go home a few days early..."

This makes the clip show attempts about a 50 percent success. The April
Fool's and Troy McClure-hosted "138th Spectacular" succeeded, but the
"Falling in Love" flashbacks and the musical retrospective fell flat.
Get it? Flat? Like a flat note? Gee, maybe we could write a clip show...

Peace,
Michael

Well aren't you the little hypocrite. Just out of curiosity...if you so
obviously believe that the songs are the WORST part of every show, why the
hell did you buy a Simpson's CD? Don't be such a hypocrite...and why the
hell does there always have to be a handful of people yelling "WORST EPISODE
EVER!" after every damn episode! If you don't like it, quit complaining and
quit watching the fucking show!

i thought that was a great show..

and i personally thoink that the clips shows are definitely the funniest,
maybe this one wasnt as good as some of the other ones, but one i really
l;iked was when homer went into the coma from bart's april fools prank,
.

Bart was standing by the bed and he said "i know i made you mad sometimes"
and then they showed around 40 "D'OH's"..

then there was the one where homer and marge were trying to teach bart
and lisa about love.. marge asked bart to think of a time when he really.
well im not sure exactly what she said, buit they showed just about every
prank call bart and lisa, and once their babysitter, made to Moes..

If being on crack is what I must be for not liking this episode,
than call me a crackhead.

I have the Simpsons CD. I like it. I like the music of the
Simpsons.....however, I do not like an episode that is 1% dialogue
and 99% singing, much of which was off-key singing.

A little bit of music is OK, sometimes it's a very good
thing (like "In A Gadda Da Vida", without a doubt my
favorite beginning of an episode of all time).

An episode with nothing but singing is not why I watch
the Simpsons and is not anything close to entertaining for me.

Before someone chews my head off, I'd like to say that I am still
a Simpsons fan and accept this episode as a very subpar effort,
nothing more. I take comfort in knowing that it appears like the
voice actors, writers, and producers were all feeling our pain and
hinting that they themselves didn't like what they were doing.

you know, I thought it was hilarious. Especially at the end when snake
kept telling the theme music to shu up. Snake was very funny and so
were alot of their lines. You people need to apprecviate it that
Groenig still does the show, and enjoy every minute of it. Stop
whining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I, for one, LOVE music(als)! I liked Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera,
SITKOS, and even Simpsons Sing the Blues. But the musicals had a plot, and
were on-key. This was neither.

Oh, and I'm not just slamming Kavner. Having a horrible voice is fine--IF
you're on key. Such as Van Morrison.

hey all
i'm a big SIMPSONS fan and all... and I own the CD... and I have the
book... and I know lots of trivia... but "All Singing, All Dancing" was
crap. Compared to this, Skinner's imposter episode was gold. It was
boring, pointless, and a huge "been there, done that" reaction was had by
most, i'm assuming.

I'm female and I resent that! ;-)

Although, for the most part, musicals aren't my thing, I don't
completely rule them out (for example, a couple movies which are high on
my ratings list are Singing in the Rain and Pennies from Heaven).

However, I thought this show was completely unimaginative and seemed
sloppy.

The idea of an all singing/dancing ep was scary to me before I even saw
it, if only because it is a concept which would be easy to flub. Sadly,
this was confirmed. Had they added such things as Marge getting drunk
and singing at CM Burns' party, or SideShow Bob singing the HMS
Pinafore, perhaps things would have been more tolerable, but it seems
they just took the easy way out of this one, and slapped together what
they perceived to be as "old faves". Worse than that, though, was the
filler with Snake, etc. etc. etc. It was just too lackluster and,
frankly, dull.

I can't wait for the next ep this Sunday to wash this bad taste out of
my mouth!

IMHO, Kavner's voice is ALWAYS off-key. Worse yet, [Yeardley] Smith was
OBVIOUSLY singing off-key. I thought Homer's off-timed singing, Grampa's
senile actions, and "Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida" saved this show from an EASY
F[-]. I gave this one a D+.

I didn't like the setup they used, but I found the idea of replaying their
songs pretty cool. I admit the episode was kinda dull, but as clip shows go,
it was probably the best one they ever had.
BTW, did anyone else catch that on high note that Homer sang at " when a
long-running comedy dos a chee-e-esy cli-i-ip SH-O-OOOO-OW."?

Yeardley Smith ALWAYS sings off-key, too! Sheesh, am I the only one who
thinks she has a horrible singing voice?

IMHO, the only regular OFF cast memeber with a good singing voice is Dan
Castallaneta. Watch "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpialo[D'oh!]cious" or "Homer's
Barbershop Quartet" again and tell me he doesn't do a great job singing as
Homer or Barney.

Actually, I don't think it's so bad! Now I know such words as caterwauling
have been used to describe her singing, and even for the 'Jazzman' number.
But I enjoyed it!

You haven't heard the "Jazzman" number? That proves Yeardley has a GREAT
singing voice... But sadly, her voice was WASTED in 5F24.

It isn't, really. The problem is that her singing voice doesn't fit any
useful category. It isn't conventionally pretty like Whitney Houston's, it
isn't grungy like Courtney Love's, it's just unusual -- like her speaking
voice. She doesn't sound the "expected" way and as a result, people think
she can't really sing.
