Syndicated Halloween Shows Aren't Airing

the Midwest. I always watch the first Halloween episode as somewhat of
a tradition.
I think "The Raven" should have had Homer asleep with Volume 1 of
forgotten lore, turned to the beginning pages, instead of being halfway
through Volume 2. The segment isn't that funny, but it's quite a good
interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe's poem.
At least the Halloween episode ran before Halloween this year. Damn
baseball.

We've had it bad here in Canada, because the CBC that had aired The
Simpson each weekday (and I seem to recall a period when they aired 2 a
day) has dropped the show. It was normal for them to air Halloween
episodes before Halloween, and Christmas episodes before Christmas. I
miss that.
Global, that has the rights to air new episodes of The Simpsons, for a
while would air a block of Halloween episodes on a Saturday leading up to
Halloween, but they didn't do that this year, I'm not sure if they did it
last year. Unless they aired Halloween episodes this afternoon, when they
air some Simpsons episodes, they didn't do anything special.
On the other hand, the local French tv station that airs The Simpsons, 2 a
day in the afternoon, they were airing Halloween episodes this week.
"The Raven" was an early one, and I rather like Bart as the Raven. I
think they dropped the level of sophistication soon after, not so much a
decline but that Raven bit was pretty artistic.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that one of the reasons is, in the
third one, when Bart makes the zombies rise (in "Dial Z for Zombies"),
he is wearing an album cover from Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

God, how I miss the early days of the show. It's a shame it will never
be that good again...
Season 2 is my favorite, funny and nostalgic.

Remember that in the US, syndication scheduling is done by the local
stations. Episodes are sold by (air) season, and while stations retain
their own copies, they pay for a certain number of airings. This is
one reason recent seasons tend to get more play (they just paid for
these new episodes, gotta use them! and why pay for more airings of
older episodes if there won't be time for them?). You can always try
contacting the programming department of your local station.

When did that happen? I'm from New York (state). I was in Montreal
last month and watched the Simpsons in French. (I don't speak French,
but it little mattered.) Are there local stations in Canada that
aren't CBC?

The CBC is English, they dropped The Simpsons at the beginning of
September (so they could air among other things "Ghost Whisperer".
You must have been watching TQS, one of the private French networks. They
air two episodes of The Simpsons these days at 4pm, and were airing
Halloween episodes the week before Halloween.
There are three big English networks in Canada, CTV, CBC (the government
run one) and Global. There are three French networks, including a French
language CBC, which are mostly focused in Quebec but may get carriage on
cable elsewhere.

I see. Thanks. I didn't really have much time for TV watching while
I was there. The little time I did have I spent mostly watching
English language CBC. It must have been TQS I was watching, because
it was about 4 p.m. that I recall seeing the Simpsons.
