The way I see it, if you watch the show, then you have a right to voice .
Im just getting sick of people ripping the work these guys do, and have
done.
I like King of the Hill, but that is a different ballpark.
THANK YOU FOR THE SOAP-BOX:: NOW,
on to why I think "the Springfield Files" may just be the best
episode.....alright, tied for first place with about 40 others.
1. Opening dialogue between Burns/Smithers( more proof of Waylans lifestyle)
Burns:"..what'll you be doing this weekend Smithers? Something
GAY perhaps? "
Smither:(choking): whuh?......what?
Burns:" you know....Mothers lock up your daughters, Smithers is
on the prowl..."
Smithers:" exactly sir..........(chuckle,chuckle)
2. Moe tries to pass off a Duff beer as an expensive import to Homer. Homer
yells "GO !", right before he drinks it.
3. Mulder pulling out FBI badge which has the scandalous "underwear photo"
of D.Duchovney.(a hard copy thing)
4. Scully hooks Homer up to a lie detector, telling him to answer yes or no
questions. She then asks if he understands. Homer says "Yes"....Then machine
explodes!
5. Barney saying "Is the alien Santa Clause"
6. Leonard Nimoys presence. He has tried so hard in his lifetime to shed
the image of Science Officer Spock.(..his book "I'm Not Spock") The way he
is used in this episode is classic. Narrator who cant wait to get out of
dodge. Also at the end when Bart sees Nimoy at the Alien landing and
says"Leonard Nimoy,What are you doing here?". Leonard says something goofy
about cosmic forces drawing him near. Then the hot dog vendor yells out:"
Hey Spock, whaddya want on your hot dog?"
7.The whole ending sequence of Burns getting unmasked as the alien.
Alien:"I bring you Love"
Lenny:"Its bringing Love dont let it get away"
Carl:" Break its legs!!"
Burns:"And now that Im back to normal I dont bring you peace and love, I
bring you fear, famine, pestilence and....."
crowd sing "Good Morning Starshine, along with Nimoy taking a solo verse.
Just classic....hope I didnt waste your time
Im sure there is someone out there ready to waste a post on telling me that
I did, so b4 you do

Yes! Someone else who understands that high standards sometimes produce
overly-high expectations. In other words, some fans have become so used to
good episodes week after week that "good" becomes only "average", and "average"
becomes "poor". They also see the sins of the present (since they are near)
better than the sins of the past (since they are distant and more easily
forgotten). As a result, these people believe that the show is going downhill
(when in realily it is staying at about the same level) simply because each new
show doesn't live up to impossibly higher and higher standards. (face it, not
every episodes is going to be another "Lisa's Wedding", but most are going to
be "A Fish Called Selma"; in other words better than nearly all other TV, but
only average when it comes to OFF).
Although I must disagree with the original poster about there being no bad
Simpsons; there are a very few episodes which leave much to be desired. But
these are the exceptions which prove the rule.
Springfield is FICTIONAL
Smithers IS gay
OFF stands for "Our Favorite Family"
