Is there a list out there of the items which have burst into flames for
no apparent reason? I can think of a few off the top of my head:

-- Martin's "Honor Roller" go-cart;
-- Mrs. Krabapple's desk, during a school riot;
-- The log cabin birthplace of Jebediah Springfield, in the monorail
episode;
-- The engines on Little Marge's airplane tricycle, in the episode about
her
fear of flying;
-- Bart's backpack, in the episode where Sideshow Bob gets the nuclear
bomb.

Please post if you have more examples of this phenomenon, or if you can
point me to an existing list. Thanks!

I don't remember which episode this was. Early on, maybe season 1 or 2,
there was a traffic accident. I think it was a cop/robber chase scene (it
might have been the one where Krusty is accused of robbing the Quick-E
Mart). A car comes around a corner and runs into a big tank truck
labelled 'MILK', which explodes into flames.

Did Hans Moleman's Gremlin explode in the Halloween special a couple
years back or did it just fall apart? I seem to remember it
exploding...

ALso, when the students were destroying Springfield Elementary School,
they knocked over a desk and it exploded into flame. Cool.

Heck, the entire breakfast.
Plus, -- Chief Wiggum dressed as the giant beer, after he crashed into a tree.
-- The Flying Nun "This is not funny!"
-- The giant ad that came to life, when it crashed into the hospital or
something.

yup, it exploded alright. Also, when Chief Wiggum was in that giant
beercan during the sting on drunk drivers which nailed Homer, Barney hits
him and he rolls down a hill. At the bottom when he stops, he explodes.

The only other explosion I can think of, is when Bette Midler throws a can
at a car and it goes off a cliff and explodes..but I guess that's not "for
no apparent reason"...

When homer took over for Smithers, he was making breakfast and a bowl of
cornflakes burst into flames afterthe milk was poured on. (Maybe Springfield
milk is highly combustible...i dunno)

Chief Wiggum (in his Giant Beer costume) rolls into a tree and explodes
("Duffless").

The Flying Nun is blown over the horizon and explodes ("Brother From
The Same Planet").

Homer runs Edgar Allen Poe's birthplace off the road; it explodes
("Homer's Triple Bypass").

Seems the fourth season was the zenith of unexplained explodiana...

Spontaneous combustion is one of the reasons why this show totally
rules! :) Ever notice that, in any riot scene, stuff bursts into flames
almost immediately after it's touched?

make for Burns bursts into flames, including a bowl of cereal (?).

Don't forget Wiggums rolling down the hill in the Duff Brewery episode and
expoding when he hit the tree.

Bette Midler throws a can at Snake's truck, which runs into a cliff and
explodes.

They blow up a flying nun when Bart is waiting at the soccer field for
Homer to pick him up.

My favorite is the Soap Box Derby episode when Martin loses control of his
car and hits the wall in a firey crash. I recall a cover from a very old
National Lampoon issue that depicted a similar soap box derby accident.
Come to think of it, I remember a comic strip in National Lampoon called
Kit 'n Caboodle. It was about a Tom and Jerry like cat and mouse team
that used shotguns and chainsaws on each other. I have always assumed
this was the genesis of Itchy and Scratchy. Maybe the writers were fans
of NatLamp when they were kids.

I remember Kit 'n Caboodle. They werre great. Itchy 'n Scratchy are an
obvious spoof, but with a big difference. In itchy & co. The mouse is
the killer. In Kit + Cab. the cat was the maimer.
