I remember seeing this a two years ago. I sorta of doubt there were would be a
movie in the works for a long time, with out no one leaking this out

MG has said that there's no plans for a movie in the immediate future, but it's
possible that there might be one in about five years. But personally I wouldn't
want to see a movie without new Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure material (and the
existing unused footage will most likely be used for the final season rather
than for an undeveloped movie).

Do the Simpsons Movie rumours simply revolve around the fact that the idea
of a Simpsons movie is popular/controversial/something to talk about/etc. or
is there actually any concrete plans in existence to actually produce a
movie.

Lump it all together with "Where is Springfield?","What's the comic-book guy's
name?" and "This season stinks, the worst yet, the show will soon be going off
the air", etc, etc. Life in newsgroups, I'm afraid.
But I think why it's being talked about more is because there has been a Beavis
And Butthead movie and the South Park movie has just come out.

tender love that only a Mother can provide. Or better yet, a seventy-five watt

Don't believe <everything> you see at IMDB. For example, back in 1997
there were around three horror films planned for Arnold Schwarzenegger
due to be released this year. None of these three movies were made,
and were removed from IMDB's listings.
