Perhaps because his first name is really Cletus (I saw it in a Sipsons
episode). Why do they call him mister anyway? He isn't married.
Solon
Charles
Montgomery Burns
Smithers
1) What happened to the skin color of Smithers?
We see in the early episodes that Smithers is black. What happened?
2) What is Smithers' first name?
We see his first name spelled two ways: Waylon and Waylond. Which is
it?
3) Is Smithers gay?
The most hinted at point in the show. It constantly turns up in most
episodes (even the early ones).
Springfield
Elementary
1) Is Skinner bald?
The referances have been few, but they are there.
3) What is Wilie's full name?
The only name for Willie that we got is Groundskeeper Willie.
4) What is Otto's full name?
The longest title we heard was Otto Man. Is that his name?
5) Are Seymore and Edna still dating?
We see few clues, but see them. Perhaps they will unveil it in a
later episode.
The
Simpsons
1) Does Homer smoke?
We constantly see Homer smoke cigars, but when we see him smoke
cigarrettes, he coughs.
2) How did Homer come to be bald?
They show us that he ripped out his hair every time he learnead that
Marg was pregnant, yet in some flashback episodes we see him with some hair
with Maggie.
3) What is Homer's middle name?
We know the initial is J but what is it?
4) When did Marge start wearing her hair up?
They tell us that she did it for her senior prom, but in
herchildhood flashbacks she wears it up. And why doesy her mother wear it up
also?
5) Has Maggie talked yet?
We see her say daddy and burp numerous words, but has she officially
talked?
6) Do the Simpsons have a rumpus room?
We see the rumpus room in one or two episodes, but only in the
erarlier ones. Why do they dismiss it? If you try to map the 1st floor of
the house, you get an empty space. It is there!
Misc.
Characters
1) Is Milhouse gay?
He dates women (including Lisa), but when Dr. Pryor reads from his
school file he says, and I quote, "a boy with such obvious homosexual
tendencies".
2) Does Lisa have any regular friends?
Janie is the closest thing we've seen, but the show hasn't really
examined that.
3) Is Cletus married?
We see him live with a woman, but it doesn't look like a marriage to
me.
Springfield in General
1) What religion are the people of Springfield?
There are three religious groups in Springfield (four if you count
the Stonecutters): Apu and Co. which are the Hindu, Krusty and Co. which are
the Jewish, and the rest of Springfield. All we know about Springfield's
main religion is that it is a form of Christianity, but it is not Roman
Christiananity because Rev. Lovejoy is married (unless he's a deacon).
What's even wierder is that we see all three in the church, even Mr. Burns,
who worships the almighty dollar$$$$$.
2) Where is Springfield?
This is one of the few ponderables that the show talks about but
never answers. The problem with this question is that we can't deduce it. If
we could the biggest clue we have is that it has the lowest voter turnout in
the US.
Thats it. If you have any comments, questions, answers, corrections, or more
ponderables e-mail me at Jay...@mediaone.net.

I think they are parodying Howard Hughes or somebody like that. I believe Hughes
official first name was not howard. Many rich and/or famous people in the
past have gone by their middle names.

In one episode, an animation goof made Smither appear to be darkly tanned.

Yes.

Groundskeeper Willie.
>4) What is Otto's full name?
Otto Man and Otto Mans have both appeared in official documents.

I believe an upcoming episode features the two of them, if memory serves me,
and it usually doesn't.

She wore it up as a kid, but down in high school, until the prom.
Her mother wears it up because she wants to.

She talked in one of them Ullman shorts.

Homosexual tendencies do not make you gay.

I don't think she has real friends. She doesn't hang out with anybody as Bart
does.

It's probably his sister and his wife.

All of the religious groups seem to congregate at the generic Christian Church.

Springfield is in the imagination of the writers.

I remember several Ullman shorts which Maggie talked. The first episode,
Good Night, and in the Burp Contest Maggie was very vocal. There may be
more, I can't remember and I can't be bothered to look.

I think it's Waylon, although the closed captions say "Wayland."

It's been suggested that he wears a toupee, and one of Bart's chalkboard

>Groundskeeper Willie.
Well, "Willie" is probably short for "William." (Skinner calls him
"William" in "Homer's Barbershop Quartet," I believe.) We don't have any
indication as to what his last name is, though.
>>5) Are Seymore and Edna still dating?
>I believe an upcoming episode features the two of them, if memory serves

I haven't heard any mention of the two of them being featured in an
upcoming episode, but I they were shown together in "The Principal and
the Pauper" and "The Two Mrs. N's" (IIRC).
>>1) Does Homer smoke?
>He smokes cigars, as does Bart.
Homer smoked cigarettes in high school, but we've only seen him smoke
cigars as an adult (except in "Homer vs. Patty and Selma," in which he
certainly didn't seem to be enjoying the cigarettes). Bart did smoke
cigars in "The War of the Simpsons," but I don't think he has since then.

I would imagine that Homer's baldness is due to a combination of heredity
and the medical experiments mentioned in "Marge on the Lam." The
hair-pulling in "And Maggie Makes Three" contradicts the earlier
flashback episodes.

He lives with Brandine and 26 kids. He is not necessarily married to

The Stonecutters aren't really a religious group. Note that many of the
Stonecutters were Christians, but Krusty (who is Jewish) was also a
member. There are presumably some Muslims and Catholics in Springfield.
Kent Brockman mentions mosques in "Krusty Gets Busted," and Smithers
enters a Catholic church in "Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part II."

Famous people omit their real first names all the time. For instance, Babe
Ruth's real name was George Herman Ruth. But do people call him George Herman?
No, they call him Babe!

As has been mentioned before, Smithers was black in "Homer's Odyssey" due to a
