THE TRANSGENDERED SIMPSONS

(gleaned from research at THE SIMPSONS ARCHIVE, and my own personal
observations of the show)

Season 2, The Dead Putting Society: (Episode 7F08) Homer and Ned Flanders wear
their wives’ Sunday dresses mowing the lawn after losing a bet, and Homer
complains that Flanders is enjoying it. Flanders reminisces about wearing
dresses during his fraternity days. (Authoress’ note: At the beginning of
this episode, Bart writes “I am not a 32-year-old woman.” Now, if writing
something on the blackboard is punishment for something he said or did, then we
must assume that at some point Bart claimed to be a woman.)

Season 3, Dog of Death: (Episode 8F17) Waylon Smithers dresses as a girl scout
to help Mr. Burns train Santa’s Little Helper (Bart’s dog) to be an attack
hound.

Season 3, The Otto Show: (Episode 8F21) Otto the bus driver ask Patty, “Have
you always been a chick?”

Season 4, A Streetcar Named Marge: (Episode 8F18) Flanders reminisces about
playing Blanche Dubois in “A Streetcar Named Desire” during his fraternity
days.

Season 4, Lisa the Beauty Queen: (Episode 9F02) Bart shows Lisa how to walk in
high heels. He is better at it than she is.

Season 4, Lisa’s First Word: (Season 9F08) Homer says that he had a cousin
Frank, who is now cousin Francine.

Season 4, Homer’s Triple Bypass: (Episode 9F09) Barney gives Homer a bikini
when Homer was in the hospital after a heart attack. Barney thought he was
getting a sex change.

Season 4, The Front: (Episode 9F16) Grampa reminisces about being saloon
barmaid.

Season 4, Whacking Day: (Episode 9F18) Grampa reminisces about being German
cabaret singer.

Season 4, Marge In Chains: (Episode 9F20) Bart’s plan to break Marge out of
jail involves a crowbar and a cocktail dress. When fresh out of clean clothes,
Homer resorts to wearing Marge’s wedding dress. (Authoress’ note: check
this out ... 7 of the 22 episodes in season 4 have some kind of nod to
crossdressing and/or transgenderism! That's over 31% of the episodes in that
season.)

Season 5, Cape Feare: Not Affiliated With the Film “Cape Fear”: (Episode
9F22) Martin Prince appears in a wig and a little pink dress, prepared to play
Lizzie Borden in the school play—complete with axe! Selma complains that
Patty leaves the toilet seat up. Left behind while the rest of the family is
in the Witness Protection Program, Grampa turns into woman after missing
medication. Jasper asks him out on a date. (Authoress’ note: again we see a
reference that Patty might be more than she seems! And … check it out: three
TG nods in one episode!)

Season 5, Marge on the Lam: (Episode 1F03) While Homer mopes over Marge having
a girls’ night out with a friend, Bart offers to make him up, put him in a
wig and call him “Homina.” Homer replies, “Oooh! That would be
delightful!” Later, Chief Wiggum admits to having had an experience with an
inflatable woman that wasn’t a woman.

Season 5, The Last Temptation of Homer: (Episode 1F07) Homer imagines Barney in
a bikini during “unsexy thoughts” while trapped in an elevator with a
beautiful coworker.

Season 5, Homer Loves Flanders: (Episode 1F14) Homer imagines himself with
Marge’s hair, and taking her role. (“Heh heh, I don’t need her at all
any more.”)

Season 5, Burns’ Heir: (Episode 1F16) Milhouse dresses up like girl for an
audition to become Mr. Burns’ heir.

Season 6, Bart’s Girlfriend: (Episode 2F04) Groundskeeper Willie proclaims,
“Now the kilt was only for day-to-day wear. In battle, we donned a
full-length ball gown covered in sequins. The idea was to blind your opponent
with luxury!”

Season 6, Homie the Clown: (Episode 2F12) A plastic surgeon gives Krusty the
Klown a boob job while he was trying to hide from the Mafia.

Season 6, A Star Is Burns: (Episode 2F31) Chief Wiggum looks forward to chance
to wear makeup when making movie. Dr. Hibbert dresses up like Dr. Frankfurter
from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And, according to a newspaper article, Mr.
Burns once won a Miss Teen U.S.A. pageant (he did bribe the judges in order to
win, however).

Season 6, The Springfield Connection: (Episode 2F21) Homer admits to wearing
Marge’s underwear. (“Marge, you being a cop makes you the man, which makes
me the woman. And I have no interest in that, besides occasionally wearing the
underwear, which, as we discussed, is strictly a comfort thing.”)

Season 7, Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 2: (Episode 2F20) Principal Skinner
accidentally put on his mother’s makeup.

Season 7, A Fish Called Selma: (Episode 3F15) Selma marries Troy McClure, and
when the anchor on ET! announces their wedding, he is momentarily taken aback
to discover that Selma is a woman: “‘70s leading man Troy McClure has
finally met the woman of his dreams. We may rememb— woman? Huh … ok …”
(Authoress’ note: Hey! For once its Selma being mistaken for a man. As
noted in earlier seasons, its usually Patty!)

Season 7, Bart on the Road: (Episode 3F17) Bart, Milhouse, Martin, and Nelson
wear wigs.

Season 7, Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in “The Curse of the
Flying Hellfish”: (Episode 3F19) Mr. Burns dresses up like Marge.

Season 8, The Springfield Files: (Episode 3G01) This episode has a photograph
of J. Edgar Hoover in dress.

Season 8, Homer’s Phobia: (Episode 4F11) Bart wears a wig while singing to
the Shoop-Shoop song, and wears a skirt to match his socks.

Season 9, Simpson Tide: (Episode 3G04) At Naval Reserve training Barney hangs
up a picture of Homer in lingerie. At the end of the episode, one of the
admirals at Homer’s court-martial declines to prosecute him because he is
under investigation for impersonating the First Lady. He dons a blonde wig and
walks out of the proceedings.

Season 9, Lost Our Lisa: (Episode 5F17) Homer encounters Chief Wiggum dressed
as a woman while looking for Lisa. The Chief tells Homer that he is on a
stakeout in an attempt to suggest why he is dress as a woman, but his
nervousness and tone suggest otherwise … hmmm …

Season 10, When You Dish Upon a Star: (Episode 5F19) Waylon Smithers asks Kim
Basinger if she can get him a pair of red pumps just like the ones she wore in
L.A. Confidential, size 12EE. He claims they are for his mother.
(Authoress’ note: His mother ... yeah, right! Waylon Smithers' sexuality is
a topic for great debate, and has generated a webpage all its own over at
SNPP.com!)

Season 10, Make Room for Lisa: (Episode AABF12) In this episode, Krusty the
Klown apparently picks up a transvestite. This event isn’t actually seen in
the episode; Marge accidentally overhears it on a baby monitor that has somehow
picked up Krusty’ s cellphone.

Season 10, They Saved Lisa’s Brain: (Episode AABF18) Lisa joins a MENSA-like
society. They visit a local park dressed in medieval attire, but are
disappointed to find that the gazebo they had rented was taken over by a gang
of thugs. They complain to Chief Wiggum, who says that all the other gazebos
were taken; one gazebo is even occupied by a convention of she-males. Then, he
adds, “How many Gazebos do you she-males need?” (Authoress’ note: I hate
the term “she-male,” but I have to giggle at this one. At the time this
episode aired, the major Transgender chat and resource area of AOL was called
The Gazebo. There is still a Transgender Gazebo, sponsored by Gwen Smith, over
at Gay.com.)

Season 10, Thirty Minues Over Tokyo: (Episode AABF20) A “get rich quick”
pitch man shows a picture of himself surrounded by beautiful women, and admits
that, “Those beautiful women? They used to be men!”

Season 11, Brother’s Little Helper: (Episode AABF22) Bart wears a cheerleader
outfit. (Skinner: “Good Lord! He’s gotten into the pep closet!” Homer:
“Looks like he’s coming OUT of the pep closet! HEEHEE!”). Sideshow Mel
appears in a short red mini-dress and heels as “Sideshow Melanie.”

Season 11, Grift of the Magi: (Episode BABF07) Bart and Milhouse get into
Marge’s clothes, dress as ladies, and jump on the bed singing “Sisters.”
This is Milhouse’s idea. (“What’s the matter Bart? Afraid you’ll LIKE
it?”)

Season 11, Days of Wine and D’oh’ses: (Episose BABF14) After getting drunk
at his birthday party, Barney dresses up like Marge.

Season 12, Bye Bye Nerdie: (Episode CABF11) In her haste to get Bart and Lisa
ready for school, Marge accidentally dresses them in each other’s clothes.
When Bart tries to get Marge’s attention to correct the error, she calls him
Lisa.

Season 13, Homer the Moe: (Episode CABF20) Moe meets a female Russian model who
says, “After Chernobyl, my penis is falling off!” Later in the episide,
Homer, Barney, Lenny, and Karl sing, “I won’t drink at Moe’s! ‘Cause
Moe’s a big jerk and a she-male, too!” (To the tune of I Love Rock and
Roll, no less!)

(sigh) Bart's VOICE is done by a 32-year-old woman. (At least I assume she
was 32 at the time.)

Yours truly,
Some bozo

Rather in-depth for observations. Seems you have been keeping
long-standing records there...

Yup...I know that. Nancy Cartwright. As a matter of fact, its common for
women to do the voices of young boys in cartoons since its easier for them.

But for the sake of argument, lets assume its NOT a meta-reference. In order
to be punished by having to write that on the board we might assume that at
some point Bart did claim to be a woman. :)

LOL Dont we all?

There is a whole page dedicated to homosexuality references at SNPP.com. I
dont see how a short list of transgender references here can hurt.

I hope I didnt offent or annoy with this list. That certainly wasnt my
purpose...

But it *was* a meta-reference.

I think it's safe to say that no one is annoyed or put out by it. But
your original post (I'm assuming you've since switched screen names)
doesn't appear to have a point.

It just states a whole bunch of information that most of us are already
are aware exists in list form on a website we all frequent.

It would be the same as if I went to comp.unix.solaris and posted the
Sun ultra5 maintenance manual (cut and pasted) directly from Sun's
website and then didn't say anything other than "Sun's Ultra5
Maintenance Manual".

You would pretty much get the same kinds of responses.

The point was the same point as any other "list of X references on the
Simpsons:" its just a list of subculture references that one might (or might
not, as the case may be) find interesting.

And that other post was made from another screen name that doesnt belong to me,
and was made in error. (I know what youre thinking...yeah, yeah..."a
friend"...but I am being honest.)

Point made. Sorry 'bout that. I know all the info is there in the episode
guides, but I got myself involved in a mission to compile a list of them and
here it is. :)

=v= I think what makes it funny is that it *is* a meta-reference.
If you're looking for that sort of claim, see "Marge Gets a Job"
[9F05] in which Bart attempts to get out of a test
by faking an illness with his ovaries. .--.

Yeah, also with Bart on the blackboard and Homer eating. Do you know
where I can find this AfterDark add-on?

What was that one episode where everyone is listening to some lady talk when
she says something about "When I used to be a school boy...." then snake
says something like "Did she just say she used to be a dude?" but no one
gets it.

Anyone know the Episode number and name?

In SEASON 30 EPISODE 12 "THE GIRL ON THE BUS", Lisa makes a new freind. Shes shown as a girl throughout the episode but as it's coming to an end the father tells her " I love you son" revealing her as a trans girl. Why would he say son when the guy is trying to be a girl, that would just trigger her and I'm sure the writers didnt intend on that. It is a big whoops on their part. Oof.
