A friend and I were discussing certain characters the other day and
Maude Flanders, Ned Flanders wife, came up and we were both a bit
curious as to why exactly was she killed and taken out of the show. Any
help or viewpoints?

In short: Maggie Roswell, the actress who played her for the first ten seasons,
was fired after she asked for a pay raise from $1500 per episode to $6000. She
was offered only $2000, which wouldn't cover her travelling expenses from her
home in Denver. She offered to record her lines herself at her own Denver-based
studio, but FOX refused. She was replaced with Marcia Mitzman Gaven in Season
Eleven, but the Maude character was killed off. Gaven has continued to do
former Roswell characters in Season Twelve (see "Tennis the Menace," "Trilogy
of Error").

Yes, but does the audience like the idea of Ned Dating Shawn Colvin?
Personally I think her music sucks, but that's just my opinion.

The voice of Maude quit and some believe it was payback for quiting.

She was killed off because the actress who voiced her didn't live in LA.
There were contract negotiations and her contract wasn't resigned. Mainly
because she didn't live in LA and the network didn't want to have to fly
her out to LA when she was a minor player, and when she rarely had any
lines. It would cost them more to fly her out for a day then it would just
to kill her off.

I was hoping someone could help a friend and I solve an argument.

In the Lord of the Flies episode, what does Bart say when Nelson gave him
a hard look?
We know he says, "Oww my tummy, I mean stomach, I mean gut, I mean....."
I think it's crap bucket. My friend thinks it's crap factory.
Also, in the episode Homer changes his name to Max Power.
What kind of power does the cart the guy drives to the forest work on?
We know it's something like self satisfaction or some shit like that.
Little help please. Thanks.

During the break between Season 10 and 11 in Summer 1999, Maggie Roswell, who
had voiced Maude Flanders, Ms. Hoover, Helen Lovejoy, Luanne Van Houten, Shary
Bobbins and many others asked FOX for a raise from $2000 to $6000. FOX refused.
Maggie offered to voice her lines at her voice over studio in Denver, but FOX
refused. She was offered a $150 raise, and then Roswell quit, because it didn't
cover the costs to travel to LA from her home in Denver to record her script.
Roswell says she would have come back to the show, but she said she's busy with
other work now. I greatly miss Maggie on the show.

BTW-During the Roswell raise incident around Fall 1999, Simpsons voice actress
Pamela Hayden also threatened a similar walkout before getting a raise. I guess
its safe to say FOX is cheap
-Ned Farley

Ned Flanders: Come on, you Gloomy Guses. Who's up for a big bowl of nonfat
ice milk?
Todd Flanders: I want wintergreen!
Maude Flanders: Unflavored for me.

"Crap factory" and "own sense of self-worth".

Wasn't it "self-satisfaction"?
