I have sat back patiently and watched people argue whether Homer says
d'oh or doh. IT IS DOLT. HE SAYS DOLT. that's why when Homer teaches the
Mariage class the sign on the door says, "Take the "dolt" out of Adolt
education.

No. Wrong. Incorrect. The reference you mention has nothing to do with what
Homer says. As for the official spelling, who knows - its slang. But it is
definitely not DOLT.

No, he says "D'oh!" At least this is the way Matt Groening spells it when
he uses it in his Life In Hell strip (he once even footnoted it as the same
pronunciation Homer Simpson uses).

I don't know about you, but up here in Canada, we pronouce the L and T
in "dolt". Homer clearly does not. Bzzzt. Nice try.

I think you need to clean out your ears. Dolt?! Dolt means a stupid
person. Sure, Homer is one, but that is NOT what he is saying.

Then explain this one buddy:

Homer: D'oh
Lisa: A deer
Marge: A Female Deer

No. It is D'oh. The creator of the character has said so. Please take a
five minute slice of our special "Humble Pie" and reflect accordingly.....

That's not why the sign says that. That is a ridiculous arguement.
It IS doh/d'oh/doe/dough or whatever spelling indicates that expletive.
Let this thread drop.

I prefered a little later when Home is in the tar pit and says "Don't
worry I'll just grab my feet with my hands and pull myself out with my
face." then sinks. That was the first episode I saw in the US during an
exchange last year and I laughed my belly button off.

Not to get off topic (or off newsgroup) or anything, but "Bart vs.
Australia" brings to mind one of the great lines in the history
of "Mystery Science Theater 3000". After Joel escapes from the
Satellite of Love and his pod crash lands in the Australian outback,
TV's Frank says, "Well, we can always hope he landed on Yahoo
Serious."

Yes, it obviously is. Look anywhere, you'll see. Even on simpsons
merchandise, it's spelled d'oh.
