Let Lisa's poem from "Stark Raving Dad" explain:
"I had a cat named Snowball.
She died! She died!
Mom said she was sleeping.
She lied! She lied!
Why, oh why, is my cat dead?
Couldn't that Chrysler hit me instead?"
Later, in "Treehouse of Horror III," Lisa tells Bart that Mayor Quimby's
brother Clovis ran over Snowball I.
> And when did they got the new cat and
> what is that cat's name? Please tell me, Thanks
They got Snowball II sometime before the first episode aired.

Ummmm Wasn't it "the Mayor's Beer-Swilling Brother, Clovis.."????
Given the Quimby/Kennedy thing, maybe it's a Chappaquiddick ref.
BTW, Snowball I appears, tire tracks and all, in heaven on "Bart Gets Hit
by a Car"

I've always appreciated the fact that the Simpsons have a black cat named
"Snowball." :-)

No that was Snowball II and He/She's still alive.

No, that was Santa's Little Helpers girlfriend. It's the episode where Mr
Burns tries to make a suit of the puppies.
Mum said he was sleeping,
She lied!, She lied!,
Why o Why is my poor cat dead?
Couldnt the Chrysler have hit me instead?

Furthermore, in the episode "Bart gets hit by a Car", as Bart is taking the escalator up to Heaven, he sees Snowball 1 resting on a cloud, flattened with tire marks across his body.

Well I'm not 100% SURE........ but in a haloween episode when Bart raises
the dead, Lisa mentions--"Don't you remember Bart? Snowball was killed 2
years ago today... run over by the mayor's brother...." then she said his
name I can't remember it though...
