LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Matthew Groening, creator of the popular Fox television
series ``The Simpsons" and the ``Life in Hell" newspaper feature, died of a
heart attack Wednesday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
He was 44.
The cartoonist and creative consultant for the television series had arrived at
famed producer James L. BrooksÕ Gracie Films production facility in Santa
Monica, Calif. at 8:00 a.m. to work on future episodes when he complained of
chest pains. He collapsed in extreme pain at 9:15, and was rushed to the
hospital eight minutes later. Doctors pronounced him dead at 9:54 a.m. Pacific
time, roughly thirty minutes after arrival.
Producers of ``The Simpsons" and Fox network executives have no comment
regarding the future of the long-running animated television series, which airs
Sundays at 8:00 p.m. The landmark 200th episode will air on April 26, and the
season finale is scheduled for May.
GroeningÕs comic feature ``Life in Hell" will be terminated, and the final
cartoon panel will run in alternative newspapers next week. ``Futurama," an
animation project proposed by Groening and Fox, will not be produced.
GroeningÕs survivors include his wife Norma, his sons Homer (``Will") and
Abraham (``Abe") Groening, his mother Margaret Groening, his brother Mark, and
his sisters Patty, Lisa and Maggie. His father, cartoonist Homer Groening,
passed away in 1993. All except Mark have ``Simpsons" characters named after
them (potbellied Simpson patriarch HomerÕs father Abraham was originally named
after GroeningÕs late grandfather).
A private funeral service will be held Saturday, April 11 at Forest Lawn
Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
``The Simpsons" is an animated sitcom following the adventures of a hilariously
dysfunctional family (slow-witted father Homer, nagging mother Marge, bratty
ten-year-old son Bart, precocious eight-year-old Lisa, and pacifier-sucking
infant Maggie) and many other characters, including nuclear power plant owner
Mr. Burns, nerdy neighbor Ned Flanders, surly tavern owner Moe Szyslak,
incompetent lawyer Lionel Hutz, and fire-and-brimstone preacher Reverend
Lovejoy.

Don´t believe in anything that is aired today (4.1.). Or did you make that up
yourself? However, its tasteless.
Nah, it's just plain stupid.

Yeah, as opposed to the rest of the year when you can take everything posted
as gospel. ;^)
