Abe said this because he didn`t want Homer to break up with Marge. If Homer
left Marge, Marge would have been left witha child and no way to support
herself. But then Homer would`ve had to pay child support.

Well, just because Abe told him didn't mean they aren't right for each
other. Homer is the type of person who knows he doesn't make good decisions,
and tends to look to others for correct advice.

And we all know Homer isn't the type of crummy person to do that to
the girl who bore his child. Of course, I don't know how that would apply to
today's series. At any rate, I think Homer and Marge are perfect for each
other, and see no point to even romance the idea of them being split up.
