How many more years do you think the Simpsons will be on before they
finally pull the plug?

I'm betting at most two. Do you think the final episode will have homer
waking up from a fall in the shower to find out it is all a dream. Or
maybe the kids will grow up, Bart will move to Australia, Maggie to
England and Lisa to Canada. Or well you get the idea.

I think the final episode should take place far into the future, say
about 30 years. Bart would be a parent, Lisa a high political figure,
Maggie
...well I don't know about Maggie.

Each character would think back on how they got to where they are.

adults like the show how are they going to find another show like the
simpsons and King of the Hill doesn't even compare to the simpsons.

I don't really care what the last episode is about just as long as
Matt Groening himself is writing it. And many people so far have already
catched on with King of the Hill including myself so I do think it will be a
worthy successor. Furthermore, The SImpsons wasn't exactly the way it is
today when it started. It's crappy to think that just because KotH is having
an odd start that that means it won't ever grow into something better.

When the final show does arrive, (I fear that day)...I think it deserves to
be at least an hour-long series finale. Maybe even two, but that would
probably be too much of a strain for the writers and cartoonists. Anyway,
it should probably focus more around relationships of the characters, since
those always seem to be the funniest episodes. (IMHO, that's why the series
is going downhill. They focus too much on rediculous plot, and not with
interaction beetween characters).

It goes without saying that the final episode will be an hourlong.
Every longrunning comedy show has an hourlong finale, every long running drama
has a two hour long finale. IT's very rare for a comedy to have a 2 hour
finale. It has to be like really big crap (i.e., MASH, Cheers) to get a 2
hour finale.

This show doesn't sound like Jerry Falwell's favorite form of
entertainment, and there's probably a "moral majority"-type anti-Simpsons
movement somewhere, but it's not very public at this moment. Some people
are moronic enough to lead crusades against literary classics because of
"bad words" or believe rumors that the Walt Disney Company is on a mission
from Satan, so any piece of entertainment is fair game. Weekly World News'
fake right-wing columnist Ed Anger equates the show with the likes of
"Married With Children" in a column titled "Today's TV Families Are
Destroying America!"

I don't see why. The Simpson's are one of the few shows to show the
entire family eating dinner at the dinner table. At times, even praying
before eating. The Simpson's are one of the few shows that show the
family going to church every Sunday. The father works while the mom stays
at home and takes care of the house and family (most of the time).
Grandpa is let out of the retirment home often to mingle with the family,
instead of being shipped off and forgoten. Homer and Marge are highschool
sweet-hearts who have remained faithful to one another over their
marraige. If that ain't family values, I don't know what is.

Of course, those idiots wouldn't know that if they don't watch the show
regularly.

They probably don't. Most people who are morally against this show have
never seen it, and simply listen to rumors. In fourth or fifth grade, I
asked a fellow student if she had seen the episode aired the previous
night. She was shocked at my even mentioning it, and said "You mean that
one porno cartoon?"

I wouldn't worry about that. Politicians occasionally speak up against
the Simpsons, usually showing that they're missing the entire point of
it, but that's their right. But few are stupid enough to lead a
boycott or crusade against it. Everyone knows that that would just
lead to a surge in popularity and condescending editorials.

Don't worry, folks. The Simpsons is now taken for granted and for the
most part ignored by politicians.

He's full of it. Anyone who is influenced by what they see
on television has no real will of their own. Beavis and
Butt-head told me to start a fire type mentaility.
Anyway people need to take responsiblilty for their
own actions. Did divorce rates increase because of
Married With Children of course not. Go to anywhere
in Europe or Japan and you will see much worse television
yet they have higher education standards and lower divorce rates.
I believe this is another attempt by the medai to keep the
public uniformed about true problems. Look at CNN's coverage
of the UPS strike I can't watch that sham. I believe
the column should say "America is destroyning families." :)

As much as I would like to see an hourlong finale (actually, I don't),
"The Simpsons" is perhaps the only current long-running comedy series to
never have an hour long episode ("Who Shot Mr. Burns?" doesn't count).
I don't think there is any guarantee that the final episode will be any
different.
