Hopefully somebody can help me out. Does anyone remember this episode where I
think homer was fired from the power plant or something, and at the very end
mr. burns was talking to smithers about how someday he was going to get
revenge homer when he least expected sometime in the future and wanted him
back at the plant and the very last scene is homer on the phone saying
"woo-hoo! I got my job back!" What was that episode about? I'm pretty sure it
was a very old one. thanks, Dawn.

I think it was the old one where the Germans bought the power plant and
fired Homer. Later, he tells Burns off in Moe's so Burns buys the power
plant back and re-hires Homer.

Was that the one when he was Union rep ? Or maybe the one with where Homer
tried Dymoxinil and Burns promoted him to senior exec ?

This is the episode where Mr. Burns sold the power plant to the
Germans and they fired Homer. "We regret to announce the following
layoffs which we will read if alphabetical order....Simpson,
Homer...that is all..." Mr. Burns bought back the plant because
people weren't afraid of him anymore...he then rehires Homer to give
him a false sense of security and then one day when Homer least
expects it.....well he'll do something bad i guess....hope this
somewhat answers your question
