Was Ozzie and Harriet in primetime the whole time? Married with Children's
claim to fame was the longest running primetime sitcom.

Yes Ozzie & Harriett was on prime time the whole time.
I defy you to show me where or when anyone connected with Married with Children
has claimed that their show was the "longest running prime-time sitcom".

Here is the evidence...
Ozzie & Harriett premired in 1952 on ABC at 8:00 and ran til 1966.
It changed days many times duting the run, but at no time did it stop running
in prime time.
All in the family only ran from 1971 to 1979, when the
title was changed to Archie Bunkers Place. Thereby, giving it a run of only 8
years. second to MArried with Childrens 10 years and 3rd to Ozzie & harriets 14
years.
What other proof do you need?

They both span 11 years, but neither has 11 seasons. A typical TV show
(unless it premiers mid-season, which I don't think either of these did) will
start in the second half of the year and end in the first half of the next year
each season.

The NBC Nightly News.

The NBC Nightly News is more of a military driven soap opera run by a slurred speech android named Tom Brokaw. His name was originally just "Tom", but Brokaw was later added when he malfunctioned while on the air (The clip is quite amusing). Married With Children is a more likely candidate for longest running sitcom.

I just saw A&E's "Biography" of the Nelson family, and they say "Adventures"
ran for 435 episodes (and yes, they confirm it was the longest-running
prime-time sitcom). This works out to be 31 or 32 episodes a year. "The
Simpsons," on the other hand, produces about 24 episodes a year, discounting
the first season which had 13 episodes. So, even if "The Simpsons" was to
run for 15 seasons, they will have made "only" 349 episodes; "O&H" fans
could still claim their show ran longest, based on the number of episodes
made. For "The Simpsons" to be the longevity champ, it would have to run
until 2007. See you there!

If I'm not mistaken the real answer is "The Adventures of Ozzie and
Harriet with about 18 seasons or so. Simpsons has a long way to go!
