1- Ok everyone, say it with me.... MUCH LESS ELMO! Come on! There are
TONS of muppets that can hold a child's attention as effectively as
Elmo. Maybe the availability of puppeteers is not as they'd like, but
whatever happened to new characters? I don't think a new muppet has
been introduced since Zoe.

2- BRING BACK KERMIT- When was the last time a new Kermit sketch was
done?

3- Can we PLEASE have enough Journey To Ernie segments for the ENTIRE
SEASON instead of cycling 5 or 6 different ones? I still say it should
be BERT looking for Ernie... NOT BIG BIRD.

4- Can we PLEASE go back to kids that act more natural? Feeding kids
lines to say, which is OBVIOUSLY edited in post, make it look
borderline Barney and Friends.

5- I have nothing against Alan, but I think there SHOULD be a Hooper
running Hooper's Store. Sure, many adult fans may balk at a new Mr.
Hooper, but many children may not understand WHY it's called Hooper's
Store. I would hope the staff wouldn't decide to change the name.

Just to repeat a couple of suggestions from long-ago posts:

1) The Sesame Street Historical Society, where Elmo, Zoe and Baby Bear
go to learn about Mr Hooper, David and Olivia. Surely local history is
a valid part of SS curriculum, and the nostalgia for the older viewers
wouldn't go astray

2) How about an episode revolving around Hooper's Store. Somebody (a
delivery person, maybe), could arrive at the store and ask "are you Mr
Hooper?", Alan points out that he's not, but confirms that it *is*
Hooper's Store. When Alan starts asking questions about why it's
called that, the old timers could pitch in with their explanations and
memories... maybe even leading to a celebration of the history of the
store, re-living all the previous owners, remembering young Gina when
she worked there, such episodes as the time when the entire store
collapsed and Maria and Luis spent a week's worth of episodes
re-building...

And a new suggestion:

3) We have Global Grover (hasn't been aired here in Aus yet, so can't
comment on it), we have the Mail-it shop. So how about some of the US
SS characters using the internet to communicate with their extended SS
families overseas? All sorts of potential content (educational and
entertainment) when the US Muppets hear/learn about what's happening
in Sesame Streets around the world

Wasn't there an episode several years after Mr. Hooper's death, where a
newcomer asked Big Bird about the portrait that hangs over his nest, and Big
Bird proceeded to share his memories of Hooper (visualized by way of
freeze-frames from old episodes)?

You've got a couple of them confused. There is a 1985 episode (seen
on Noggin) where a teenager named Petey sees the "Mr. Hooper's Store"
sign and asks Big Bird who Mr. Hooper is, and then the show goes into
BB's memories of Mr. Hooper, complete with freeze-frames.

There was another episode from the 90s where an art collector offered
Big Bird many things (including several bags of bird seed) in exchange
for his drawing of Mr. Hooper. Big Bird was tempted, but his memories
held strong, and he refused to sell his drawing.

I've heard rumors that there was another 80s episode where the cast
thought about redecorating Mr. Hooper's store, but in the end they
decide that doing so would ruin their memories of him, so they leave
it the way it is.

As far as I know, those are the only times that Mr. Hooper has been
"revisited" on Sesame Street.

That was show #2073 from 1985. It was part of the Noggin "Unpaved" series.

I didn't realize it was so soon after Hooper's death. Thanks both for your
replies.

Hooper's Store did get a couple of minor facelifts.

Shortly after David's departure, Mr. Handford, the new owner, made
some minor changes to the inside of the store. This was also when the
store "collapsed".
When Alan took over, a red awning replaced the yellow and black
striped "fold out" awning, the store got a light blue paint job, as
well as a new window on the right side of the store. The Hooper's
Store sign on the right hand side was removed. The following season,
Hooper's returned to the classic green, but the red awning remained.

All these are good suggestions... I would add a sixth, which I think
could pave the way to achieveing 1-5:

6 - Get SS back to targeting Preschoolers and Kindergardners, as it
traditionally did, rather than dumbing everything down for the "Sippy
Cup Set" (who are probably too young to really understand letters and
numbers anyway).
