Close, but no cigar. Morgan Freeman was a regular on The Electric
Company, not Sesame Street. He's come a long way since then!

Yes, I think you're thinking of the PBS show "The Electric Company" that
was created by Children's Television Workshop (CTW) who also created
Sesame Street. Morgan Freeman played a character called Easy Reader, and
many other celebrities who we know today were also on the show like Bill
Cosby (who was also on Sesame Street from time to time in the early
1970's) , Rita Moreno, etc.

Morgan Freeman did a lot of stuff on the old _Electric Company_.
Another of his recurring roles was that of a large, deep-voiced
vampire. Brings back memories. As I understand it, Bill Cosby was
one of the driving forces behind the show's creation, but that was in
a Cosby interview, so perhaps it was biased. Moreno was also a
regular on the show, as was the narrator for "The Adventures of
Letterman." None other than ... Joan Rivers. Tom Lehrer did some
wonderful songs for the show, too.

Okay, it's been established Morgan Freeman was on Sesame Street.
But here's something I seem to remember...(and this is definitely for us
older folks)

wasn't there a crossover episode where Freeman as Easy Reader paid a visit
to Sesame Street? I remember his music appearing before he walked on, and
was given a high five by David at Hooper's Store. I think David was
delivered more newspapers than he could fit onto his stand, and Easy was
more than happy to read them.

Or something like that. Can anyone verify this? Or was this a creative
dream?

Actually, Morgan Freeman was not a Sesame Street regular. He was on
the short-lived spin-off "The Electric Company". Freeman played a
character named "Easy Reader".

The only known crossover of Easy Reader was the television special Out to Lunch.

Sorry, but Roscoe Orman, not Morgan Freeman, played Gordon. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_human_Sesame_Street_characters)

I do. He narrated one episode. It was a Sesame version of "Shawshank" where Oscar is being overrun from his trash can by his pet elephants, and so he escapes in the sewers. The episode was brought to you by the Letters B and S, and the Number 2.
