Announcement: RevelCon 17 in Houston, Texas

Hi all! Sorry for barging in and posting but we were asked to spread
the word around about RevelCon and that is what I am doing. Since
RevelCon always shows various TV shows - Sentinel comes up a lot. So....
I'm sure you are wondering what RevelCon is. RevelCon stands for the
Relaxing, Enjoyable, Visually appealing, Energetic, Lively Convention.
It is an adult oriented convention which is held each year and features
a number of different things. RevelCon is not a large convetion like
Media West, GenCon, and the like where thousands of people get together.
Instead, it is a small convention where fans of various science
fiction genres get together and talk, watch videos (or DVDs now) read
fanzines, and enjoy the artwork done by various artists. There is an
auction for some of the artwork as well as an auction for some of the
lesser known charities. This year members from years past were asked to
see if they could bring a friend or find people who might want to give
Revelcon a try. From past years here is a general idea of what to expect:
1. People in various costumes from various TV shows.
2. A reading library where people can read various stories from the
extensive volumes of fanzines and other materials provided.
3. Various nick-nacks from various TV shows including some hard to find
items people bring and show off or sell/trade with others.
4. A dealer's room where various episodes of TV shows (videos and DVDs)
are sold (no rip-offs and the like - instead they are usually previously
bought and viewed videos/dvds that the person no longer wants and wants
to either sell or trade for something else to watch).
5. Original art (both sedate as well as adult themes) as well as hand
made items of varying degrees of quality. Sometimes well known artists
bring their work to RevelCon because you just never know who might buy what.
There are some rules for going to RevelCon and one of them is that no
children are allowed. The convention is for adults to be able to get
together and have a laugh or two and enjoy themselves. (Note that this
isn't to say the RevelCon people do not like kids or anything like that
but this is a small convention dedicated to letting the grown-ups relax
and to have some fun by talking about their favorite TV shows, actors,
and so on.)

more. We are a bit more expensive than other conventions, but then we
are also a very small group. It used to be that you could only get in
via invitation but this is the seventeenth year of the convention and
many of us felt that it would be a good idea to have new faces and to
expand our horizons a bit. Maybe you have a new TV series you love and
would like to talk to others about it. Maybe you love an older series
and want to talk to others who like that series as well. Or maybe you
just can't afford to fly out of state to one of the larger conventions,
stay in an expensive hotel, eat lavish foods, and dole out a couple
thousand dollars. If so, then this is the convention for you because we
can't afford to do that either! That's why RevelCon was invented.
