In the episode Kramer comes to the bar with the intentions of
collecting a bet from Sam Malone who was supposed to have married
someone famous by midnight on the day that hw arrives at the bar.
Can anyone clarify this?
>Can anyone clarify this?
I remember the Cheers episode -- Sam was supposed to marry Jacqueline
Bisset by midnight. But I didn't remember that it was Kramer. Were
you looking for clarification that it was Kramer or more details about
the bet he had with Sam? For some reason, I seem to remember that
episode pretty well (other than the face of the person who tried to
collect). Sam didn't have to pay off, by the way.

He was supposed to marry Jacqueline Bisset.
If you go farther back you might remember Kramer (Michael Richards) from
the sketch show "Fridays" back in 1980. The show also featured Larry
David, co-creator of "Seinfeld"
I'll never forget his sketch where Richards is a nut hassling a Highway
Patrolman. "Catch any speeders?"

I think I remember seeing him in a very old (and bad) movie with a
very young Kurt Russel. I think it was something about a stolen
invisible car. (Giddeyyap!)
In this episode, Michael Richards plays a man who returns to Cheers in
order to claim his ownership of the bar. It seems as though some years
ago Sammy (in a fit of drunkenness) bet Kramer that he would marry
Jacqueline Bisset before a certain day (the day that Kramer comes to
take the bar), and if he hadn't done so, Kramer would get the bar. It
ended up that Sammy was going to marry some lady whose name is
Jacqueline Bisset, but wasn't *the* Jacqueline Bisset. Kramer then
conceded the bet, but for his problems, same gave him a green olive.

I recently saw Michael Richards on Night Court. He played crazy bum

Almost Kramer-like.
He was also apparently in the Saturday Night Live clone "Fridays"

Called "Fridays."
Yeah, (some of) it was too funny. "Kramer" played "The Emaciated
Man": a kind of pre-Kramer (doofus without the hipster) character.
You can really see some of his physical comedy at it's very beginning.
I also remember the "Matzoi" skit-- a Jewish Martial Arts Show. The
two Matzoi Rabbis would break "boards" made out of Matzah and end the
show saying "Live and Be Well."

Am I ~that~ old? :)
I think this show was on in the early 80's instead of the mid-70's, but
Michael Richards was indeed on that show. As you say...it was a Saturday
Night Live clone that I believe ABC put on trying to capture the SNL viewers
a night earlier after seeing the sucess of SNL. It only lasted a season or
two, because in the end, it just wasn't funny enough.
The show was called "Fridays" and it was on sometime during 1978-81.
Michael Richards (Kramer) really stole the show, they would do skits
with just Kramer running around a clothing store like a nut, or playing
with toy soldiers. I remember the toy soldier scene well, he had a army
helmet on and he would get low to the ground and fight with the
soldiers. He would make voices and set them on fire. I thought the show
was funny!( but I was a young kid at the time)...hope this helps
I just read that Larry David was on this show as well.

I do recall seeing a clip of the show from some Andy Kaufman memorial
special which aired only a few years ago... the point being that
Richards, Kaufman and two girls were in this bit and Kaufman was
supposed to walk into this resteraunt where they were sitting, as a
drunk. Instead, Kaufman sits down, and with a straight face, he just
says, "I can't do this." The girls tried to ad-lib, Kramer just
munched on some pretzels, but when they saw that he was serious, one
of the girls punched him in the arm, and Kramer, still munching on
those pretzels, with a totally blank look on his face, threw a glass
of water in Kaufman's face. Priceless. The director ended up running
onto the stage and had a fist fight with Kaufman, all on live TV. I
remember this all, because I was going to tape a show, and this
pre-empted it. It was really funny, no doubt funnier than whatever I
was going to tape!

Kramer was scary weird on this show. (FRIDAYS_ABC)
He had this wicked hirsuite biker character, who would come out and
abuse the audience, verbally. Very confrontational, I was like 12, but
it felt very strange. Like Andy Kaufman strange. The audience did not
respond favorably, it became like Don Rickles on bad acid.
When I saw him again as KRAMER I thought, there's no way this guy will

Kramer/Richards was from their planet and they referred to him as
"Prince Kramer."
Michael Richards also played Stanley Spadowski, the custodian in the movie UHF.
