In the 2-20 episode Elaine didn't want to eat alone in the restaurant so
she went to the janitor's closet to get the food. Why couldn't she have
get Take-out? Go to the restaurant and pick it up. If she's so smart why
didn't she think of that? And also how come they never mentioned her
parents? Was she an orphan? They mentioned Jerry, George, and Kramer's
parents.

When the guy gave her the bag of food then questioned her when she
couldn't get into the apartment why did she hand the bag back to him?
She already paid him the money, the bag was hers! She should have just
walked accross the street to her apt.! STUPID ELAINE! I don't like the
way she acts this season anyways, she's a jerk and she's not funny!

I can't believe someone who claims themselves SeinFans would use
language as such and make such an unwise comment. If you really know the
personality of Elaine, (actually all of these four main characters share
this quirk) you'll know that she does so because she's neurotically
stubborn, because she has to stand on what she thinks is right (such as
anti-fur coat). Remember she'd rather dump her boyfriends because they
neither spongworthy nor pro-choice? It's like George simply has to
drive/fly all the way to another city to speak out his retort. In this
case, Elaine JUST want to taste the fish that is first served in America
and she just doesn't want to do carry-out because she thinks they should
deliver her order. Therefore, she'd rather get stuck in the janitor's
room than, as you suggest, walk to the restaurant herself.

>And also how come they never mentioned her parents? Was she an orphan?
>They mentioned Jerry, George, and Kramer's parents.

Again, if you have watched Seinfeld faithfully and have paid more
attention to it, you'll know her parents get divorced long long time ago
and her father, a famous cranky writer, does show up on one episode.

It's because she knows she lies and feels guilty. Of course the
employees in the Chinese restaurnat are quirky, too. But it's the nerotic
craziness of all these characters that make us love the show this much.
And "she's a jerk?" I don't understand why people choose to use such a
foolish word and make subjective comment in public that simply mame them
sound so unintelligent... <sigh>

C'mon, give Elaine a break here. This is Seinfeld, remember? It is
necessary to watch it with a certain suspension of disbelief. She is cute
and quirky, and at least she was not responsible for the injury or
embarssment of any one other than herself, in this episode. She did seem
a bit resigned though. I like her better when she's spunky and fighting
the many factors that are against her. In this episode, she didn't seem
willing to fight.

Her Dad is the very strict, militaryesque Altan Benes. They are from
Towson, MD (a suburb of Baltimore.)

You could make up stuff that would have been easier for the characters
to do (elaine get take out) in many episodes. THe thing is though, if
elaine went and got take-out, is that funny? The producers do stuff
like that because its funny

Elaine's IQ is not 51...the first time she took the test, it was 55,
the second was 150...

she probably didn't pick up the food because she doesn't have a car and
taking the subway to get dinner (or walking) would mean she would have to
eat there alone (which she didn't want to do) or letting her dinner get cold
on the way home.

Elaine's father was an adventurer/writer (ala Hemmingway) and was in
the episode where Jerry wore a suede jacket with really bad lining.
