Well there was the Icarus reference in the episode where George tried to
combine food and sex. His line was something like this, "I flew too close
to the sun on wings of pastrami"

I remember George saying something like "I flew too close to the sun on wings
of pastrami"
Hope this helps.

No, that would be a historical reference. Caligula was a Roman Emperor.
I just thought of one. In "The Blood", George was referring to being
able to eat a sandwich AND watch TV while having sex. When it didn't
work out, he mused to Jerry, "I flew too close to the sun on wings of
pastrami", to which Jerry replied sarcastically, "Yeah. That's what you
did."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this was a reference to Deadelus
and Icarus, who escaped from an island (Crete?) but one of them flew too
high and the wax holding his wings on melted and he fell into the sea
and died.
I think.

I interjected some close, but no cigar, responses.

Kramer says he watches Canadian Football - hence he has seen the ARGONAUTS...
Susan was a Lesbian - so if she came from the Greek Isle of LESBOS...
Jerry mentions Anthony Quinn in ZORBA THE GREEK...
Kramer's first name is COSMO...

In "The Bizarro Jerry," Jerry *sort of* mentions mythology. He says his
new girlfriend with the "man hands" is like something out of mythology.
"The hands of a *man*. It's like a creature out of Greek Mythology, I
mean, she was like part woman, part horrible beast."

Jerry had a line "Moses smell the roses" once.
Well, if we're going to bring bible stories in here, speaking of
Moses reminds me of "The Pick" (IIRC). George says that he's sure
Moses was a picker. Due to all those years in the desert, that dry
climate. :-)
