It had to do with her transforming into George. If you will remember the
episode where suddenly George had become successful, he started to dress
nicely and avoid his usual "grunge"-look. At the same time Elaine's luck
was running rather low. When she became George she of course adopted
the grunge look of which part included not taking off her coat.

No way hose head!! The george/elaine switch occurred several episodes
prior the coat episode. Get a clue.

Repeating: Elaine wouldn't take off her coat because Julia L-D was
pregnant! Instead of writing a bogus episode to give her a reason to keep
her coat on (a la Shelley Long on "Cheers"), the writers just had her do
it FOR NO REASON! Let's celebrate this refreshing break from the usual
sitcom hokum instead of desperately searching for A REASON!
