Elaine's diaphragm?

What was the big deal about Elaine's diaphragm flying out of her purse? I must
of missed this episode and now this is really bugging me. I assume it had
something to do with the woman standing next to Jerry, but nobody remembers
the specifics. Help!

The chick standing next the Jerry was none other than Marla the virgin.
Just before Elaine enters the scene, Marla tells Jerry that in fact she
is a virgin. The humour comes in when Elaine tells the story about her
diaphragm and begins with:

"You'll love this." - talking to Marla in "The Virgin"

The scene like Elaine doing the following:

"I ran out to apologize to a virgin and I crossed against a light and
I knocked over the delivery boy." - Elaine telling Cheryl in "The Visa"

the virgin! She had just told him that she was a virgin
when Elaine went on about her diaphragm...and you saw the rest!
