Ok, let's take this one step at a time:
1. The person you think is named "Pachyderm" is actually named "Babu," last
name being "Bhatt." This character, which you described accurately, is
Pakastani; perhaps that and "pachyderm" got combined in your head.
2. Anyway, "pachyderm" was just a punchline to a joke that was repeated
throughout a particular episode that we never got to hear in its entirety.
Most likely, there is no joke in real life, but we are forced to watch the
devastatingly funny punchline (well, it caused a hospital bed-ridden man who
desperately wanted to laugh but could not, laugh a bit too hard). Jerry could
not make this man laugh, but the pachyderm punchline joke did.
3. Yak, wherever you are, ya putz -- Is this what you wanted?

correct.

a) pachyderm punchline did not make him laugh. (although he could really
have used it) Jerry had to pull out new material and do his entire act.
b) pachyderm is a real person however. we repeatedly hear
so did you tell him the pachyderm story, in which 'pachyderm' is reference to
a real person, who is never mentioned anywhere else.

*Bzzzt* Wrong! The pachyderm joke did NOT make the bed-ridden friend
laugh, for information's sake "the Pachyderm story" as it became known
involved very hot pizza(s) being carried and eventually dropped onto
george's girlfriend (which we later discover). Again I repeat the joke
about the pizza's/pachyderm did not make the friend laugh, rather it was
Jerry's 'bit' about Superman and the Justice League of America that
caused his ailing friend , Fulton, to laugh too hard.
Admittedly, the guy you were relpying to was a putz, but you are by no
means an exemplary seinfeld fan, I on the other hand, am. :)
Later all.
I stand corrected about the pachyderm detail. And to defend "the guy," I
wasn't calling him a putz; I was referring to someone who said "I forgot what
pachyderm was" out of the blue a while back who decided to get nasty
responding to me when I told him a pachyderm was an elephant. This was by
email to save the rest of you guys!
I agree. Pachyderm is not Babu, and is best known for "jugglin' those
pizzas". But I thought Pachyderm had a real name. I haven't seen the
episode in a while, so someone enlighten me.
That was Babu - Pachyderm was part of Jerry's comedy routine to try to
cheer up his sick friend in the hospital.
I can't remember his real name, but I think that Pachyderm was the annoying
comic that "The Mentor" was dating. I can't remember her name, either.
Denise
The person "The Mentor" ended up dating is the infamous Banya. Banya's
not Pachyderm, is he? Banya is the one who bases his entire routine on
stuff like ovaltine, got Jerry to take him to Mendy's which started the
whole argument over what is and isn't a meal.
No, Banya is definately NOT Pachyderm.

1. Banya is the annoying comic.
2. Babu is in India, still plotting against Jerry.
3. Pachyderm has a real name, which George's girlfriend divulges at the
end of the episode when she tells George she is leaving him for
Pachyderm.
4. The "joke" is really just a comic tale of Pachyderm introducing
himself to a girl in a bar while juggling two hot pieces of pizza.
> 2. Babu is in India, still plotting against Jerry.
I believe Babu is in Pakistan, saving his (whatever the money in
Pakistan is called), so he can one day return to New York and have his
revenge on that very bad man.
rupees, currently worth about 1/35th of a US dollar.

Does she tell us, the audience, that is, Pachyderm's real name? If so, what
was it?
